Hi guy's,

My wheel bearing is on the outs again and I cant afford to have it done by a mechanic this time. I know how much the parts are and I would like to attempt to do this myself to save money. Can somone please give me some advice on waht is needed and how hard it is to install a wheel bearing on my o3.5 MSP? I know im going to need a front wheel bearing, hub, and an axel nut. I understand that the bearing needs to be pressed into the hub. My question is how is this done? Do you grease it and press it? How much pressure? What tools will I need? hwat is needed to get the hub off? Does anyone sell the hub and bearing already pressed in? I have been driving for some time now wiht this damn noise and I have to have it fixed. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You could disassemble it and have a shop press the bearing in for you. They don't charge too much, most machin e shops and some auto parts do that.

I would get a shop manual.

Thanks for the replies guys. Im going to attempt to do the bearing in a week or two. Im probably going to just buy a new hub as well. This way my friend can press the bearing into the hub prior to install. Has anyone attempted to do this before? Im wandering how much time is involved.

How much is the labor for a wheelbearing? 150+/- bux? Your going to need alot more than that in tools if you don't have any. On top of that a new hub is probably double that. Send me a pm, maybe we could work something out.

Each time I had to have this fixed it comes out to like 480+. Im in the process of getting a divorce and Im so tight on cash now its disgusting. The parts cost 120 and im getting so screwed in labor I cant afford it. I dont believe my car was fixed correctly since the accident and I have not gotten anywhere with the body shop or the insurance company. The body shop said I needed an alignment and so forth. IM tired of the B.S. and just want that damn noise to go away. What tools are needed to do the install? I will PM BLKZOOMZOOM since you asked and are willing to help me out. I have read many of your posts and am sure that you have much experience conisdering all the owrk you have done to your car. Thanks again.

I helped replace a wheel bearing on my cousin's Accord once. His brother has a hydraulic press, without that I really don't think it could be done, it was needed to get the old one out as well.

You'll need a hydraulic press to press in the bearing..
