well the real question.. HOW MUCH? Labor.. parts ect..

That's awesome that you did the engine yourself, but if you could pull that off I'd think installing the EMS would've been easy enough for you.
I installed my Microtech myself but I don't think I'd feel comfortable assembling a block from the inside out hehe.

hehe, it was the tunning that i couldn't have done
besides...one day he said he was taking it to the shop becaus eof a weird idle, and the next day he told me he installed a haltech

well the real question.. HOW MUCH? Labor.. parts ect..
well, it was about 3000-4500 in parts
but that's counting a bunch of NO-PERFORMANCE parts he bought
i would say with 3000 should be more than enough
if you are doing all the labor
maybe 5000 if someone else is doing it
but is so worth it
i spoke to him yesterday and he's boosting 18-19psi spiking to 28psi
isn't that fucking awesome?

yeah that's pretty amazing. He should get to a dyno soon. Which forged internals were used and what's the compression ratio?

Looks like the rods are Pauter.

Wha, no break in? I thought you had to break in the internals when going forged???

Wha, no break in? I thought you had to break in the internals when going forged???
sorry, i forgot to mention
this was done 3 months ago
it is beyong the break in point....i took his boost controller off and called him almost every 5 minutes when he was driving to remind him not to race!
after 1000 miles (they say 600, i say 1000) it was ready.
1 week ago, he was racing and he blew his tranny
i should have pics of that soon. 3rd gear was gone!!
he told me it almost pulverized...he has them in his house.
He has a dyno (duh, how else would you tune? lol)
at the time he wasn't with a good tune, he also has a corksport s pipe and j pipe, gutted cats and basically stock catback..
he able to put down 250WHP @ 5500 RPMS
when he removes the restrictive exhaust, we hope he gains at least 15-20 HP more.
i dunno yet how much gains he'll get.
Yes, you may flame about having the stock exhaust, but it goes to show that even with the stock exhaust you are able to put down 250WHP
the exhaust is our bottle neck as of now.
He doesn'ty get any traction at all on first running with a ACT clutch (if i'm not mistaken)
we should have a video up soon....
Please, don't flame...i'm known here for not lying, i don't have to lie about this...
if you don't believe call TBK performance in Doral, FL...he'll rectify all this info
and yes, arias pistons and pauter rods....they're so fucking beautiful!
gosh i want money

what size turbo? And is that head ported?
He must still be running the stock turbo. At 18-19psi, the stocker is "running out of air" and is way past its efficiency range. Tell him to get a gt28rs and his numbers will be a lot more impressive. He should be making a lot more than 250whp.

Alejo_NIN...How does a Spring break road trip to Daytona Beach sound?
the week of March 18th to the 24th?
I have a turbo to install... You can stay at my place... Food included...?

wow
doesn't sound bad...
just that work won't allow it to happen...
nonetheless it would be bad ass
that's actually not the first time a build a fs-de engine...
i've done it before, just not in the "FORGED" way, you know? and also, not turbo
but the same principles apply
in reality, that's the 3rd FS-DE engine on my book... :P
guess practice makes perfect

Not even a weekend?
What do you do? (For a job that is)
I need all the experience I can gather for this build to get it done in a week without proper facilities.

as of now, mechanics is just a hobby of mine....
the wife is always nagging coz all i do during the weekend is work eithe ron my cars or friends cars...lol
i'm currently working as a data entry clerk....
a weekend sounds promising if you have the engine out and prepped by the time i get there,,,,
you gotta hone it, you gotta have everything needed from power tools and the right tools to the right parts
an engine swap could be done in less than 8 hrs with the right tools (no lifts or anything) but everything needs to fall into place like butter...which is not the case always.
it took us 1 week working shifts of 4 hours a day because we have day jobs. it oculd had been done in 3 days working 12 to 16 hours shifts
for some reason, when working on mechanics i don't seem to get tired...yet, doing 8 hrs in a computer with a/c and relaxed i get so tired!!!wife is always complaining about this...
good luck tho
you can hit me on PM and on the cell any time you have questions
remember, is not about WORKING HARD is about WORKING SMART
for instance, the rear motor mount how-to, it used to take 6 hrs to do...
now, if you check the thread in my sig, you can see that it doesn't need to take as long if working smart, i got to lower the time by 80% down to 2 hrs from start to finish.
search, read READ READ, don't make mistakes people have already done...since you seem new to this, don't try to take shortcuts, you'll end up working twice as hard, don't try to remove the engine with the tranny on, remove the tranny, then the engine..
while ding his car, i decided to try something i've never done before which was loading the engine with the transmission already in place. we accomplished this by lifting the car as high as possible and then sliding the engine on the floor in place, then we lowered the car all the way to the floor and atatched the motor mounts, it took as 30 mins to get the engine from the ground up to the motor mounts, something that if done like i've done before, which is first the block and then the transmission it would had taken us at least 2 hours..
i'm rambling now

Well I'm not rebuilding the engine... yet...
It's just a turbo install, I cant afford forged internals right now.
Install will include:
-mock up of turbo and mani to fabricate the downpipe (I might try to do this before that week)
-actuall installation of turbo, mani, downpipe
-install FMIC
-install all the extra turbo related parts like oil feed, vacuum lines, FMU, etc
-install MPI with extra injector
-tune MPI good enough to run and get me to school the next monday
-I cant think of anything else right now
No pressure, if you can and want, great if not, oh well... I might give you a call later for the internals

I dont know why everyone thinks that a bore is 100% manditory when going forged.
I just ripped apart an FS-ZE engine with 60k miles on it. The cylinder walls are PERFECT. No reason to spend money on a bore when its not needed.
Don't get me wrong, every block that is rebuilt should will still need to be machined: Plateau, Line Honed, Decked, Crankshaft Balanced, Blue Printed, etc. etc.

How good of a deal are we talking about here?
If it's really good, I might be able to get them before the build in march.

It definitely works, hence my engine. It's like Russian Roulette though.
