Wow I hadn't heard of that before, and just looked it up. Now I want it for my Protege!
I believe the CX-7 uses the same drain bolt as most mazdas, but I don't know off the top of my head what size it is. I just replaced mine with a magnetic one about 500 miles ago.
Some listings on ebay sell one that they say works on the mazdaspeed3, mazdaspeed6, cx-7, 3, 6, and tribute.

I put these on two vehicles ('97 Miata and '99 Dakota), and took them off--both leaked, both were a PITA to use. Your drain plug is simple--what advantage does the extra complexity bring?

Just not having to use a single tool to do the oil change. I read a review on miata.net where someone said they used it on both of their miatas and loved them.
There's another company that makes a valve thing for the oil drain that people swear by, can't think of the name right now though.
