seems like it would work better. But who knows. Really only need one if you are puttin on a bigger turbo or higher boost pressure.

I'm gonna change mine on my MS3 just cause its fucking plastic.. I mean come on.. a plastic BPV. Next thing we'll be rolling on plastic wheels.

Also an all metal BPV/BOV should hold boost better as well.

Also if you plan on getting a Cobb Accessport and running stage 1 or 2 (if its like the subie's) then you'll definitely want something thats recirc and is of a better quality.

....

I worked in a tire store when I was a teenager back in latter half of the last century. There were a number of cars that did have plastic wheels. Can't remember which ones. They weren't especially light, either. In fact, I recall them being a good deal heavier than the steel wheels. I think the selling point was the "style".

I believe cobb said that the stock BOV would be sufficient after their intitial testing.

Well i've "heard" that some MS6's have blown/destroyed their BPV's on stock boost.

proly not stock boost.....mazda wouldnt relaese if it did. companies want reliability.... unlesss they red line it or seomthing crazy..i cant see that happening

plastic=reliable :bs:
The plastic piece was probly the most cost efficient route for them to go, likewise being cheap to replace under warranty claims.

Well anyway.. plastic or not.. its getting replaced by something made of metal.

It was one MS6. But, yeah, who cares why Mazda chose it. Manufacturers make a million crappy choices on every car to keep costs down. It's up to us to decide which ones we can live with and which we need to replace/repair. For example, I can't believe they didnt spend a few extra bucks for a better TMIC. Might have saved the MS6 from the whole "heatsoak" scandal if the more efficient TMIC had kept temps and knock down at the margins. Then maybe I could have sold my MS6 for $24K instead of $21K. (pissed) I guess I'll never know.

if plastic is good enough for Porsche, Volvo, etc...its probably good enough for Mazda. I bet thats what they thought, anyway.

BTW, if you open up the stock airbox, or replace with some sort of CAI or SRI, you'll hear the stock BOV pretty well. I did, and it's pretty nice, for stock.

i wanted to change the airbox but i had problems with leaks..i will try to jsut take out the bottom part of the box and clamp in the filter so its kinda the same thing...get a k&n upgrade filter and see what happens.
