Alright I had some cheap store bought fog lights for my Prtoege, and they broke this weekend. I've been looking around and I noticed that in all the pictures of 99-00 Protege's they don't have fog lights, but when I look at some web sites I see fog lights for 99-01 Protege's. So my question is, do these fog lights for an 01 fit on my car? I've look at how they are bolted on and it doesn't look they would work, and they don't look like they are even the right shape. By the way I'm looking for OEM if they actually exist. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to my long search ! Finally I am not alone.
There are OEM fog lights for our cars they are just hard as hell to find and when you do they are like $93 US / light.
The 01+ fog lights don't fit. They are a different shape and a different way of attaching them. I would know - I had a set that I thought I could make work.
The lights are out there - you just have to find em.

Well first off price isn't an issue, I'm so tired of having crappy lights. Thanks for letting me know thought that the 01 lights don't work.

$185.40 on onlinemazdaparts.com, just stick the part number in.. or maybe TheMAN could get it for ya for even less, who knows.
Even the retail price isn't bad considering it comes with everything you need! :)

Same here - plus I have some xeno-match bulbs to slap in them too but I have a pretty good deal with HIDs..so the possibilities are endless.

Alright I finished installing the fogs tonight. The install itself went fairly easy, the instructions that come with it not only explain what do to do really well, but it also shows you a picture of what to do too. It does take a bit of time to do, took me 3-3 1/2 hours to complete. I do suggest taking off the front bumper, it says you don't have to but it really makes life easier. I'll post pictures tomorrow when I have a camera.

+1 for taking off the front bumper. It isn't all that difficult to take off (unless it is your first time), and saves a lot of headaches. My car hasn't had headlights or a front bumper for a couple weeks now :P

Sorry for the delay, but I have been SUUUPPEERR busy the past week, I'll take some pics tomorrow for you guys. BTW I'm getting some better bulbs for them, the stock ones just don't match up with my Silver Stars in the headlights.

Looks good. So how hard was it to wire it up on a 1-10 scale? Got any tips for us thinking of doing it besides what you listed earlier?
Also, anyone know if there is a trim peice for the lower bumper opening in between the fog lights? It has always seemed to me that something should be there like how the 01-03's have.

Well the wiring is pretty basic, the instructions that come with the lights are very discriptive of what you need to do. The only thing I ran into was the intermediate harness(connects the outer harness with the inner harness), my car didn't have one, so I just made one. And the kit comes with crimp-locks which I don't suggest using, I would solder everything, I only used the crimp-locks because it was way to cold and I was tired but I plan on soldering everything in the spring when it warms up. Other than that you only need to worry about 7-9 wires that are very easy to locate and get at.

I just picked up a set of these fogs from a member on this board. Is there a part number for just the wiring harness ? I already have the switch all I need is the wiring to connect the lights to the switch.

You could try to look it up at www.onlinemazdaparts.com I wish I knew what happened to my instructions cause I'm sure that would have said what it is.
