when i was coming back home ,my tranny started making this grinding noise when i releasing the clutch. Every gear i put in it would do it. When i got home and tried to move the car it just went into gear and didn't move the rpm went up a little bit ,but not past 2,500rpm. From what i was reading I don't think its my lsd, cause if it was i'm guessing the car would at least move. I think its my clutch, cause the car don't move at all, when i put it in reverse it still does the grinding noise when i release the clutch,so i don't know what it could be? thanks for the help

i was under the impression that if it made a grinding noise and doesnt move, then it's the lsd.

Clutch would not allow you to dissengage and shift gears or allow you to sit and not stall. 99% sure it's the LSD!

Yup. It sounds like the LSD to me too. This same thing happened to me less than a week ago. My MSP is currently at the dealer right now to have the LSD replaced. I got no warranty either (pissed)

Welcome to the LSD Failure Club. I'm almost positive it is your LSD also. Hope you have some money saved up. When a clutch fails it usually slowly starts slipping more and more. Not all at once. All at once points right to the POS LSD. How many miles do you have on your car?

Grinding noise is the clue, its not your clutch IMO. Hope you can get it fixed reasonably.

didn't think it was clutch either cause, 2 weeks ago i went to the track and the clutch wasn't slipping and out of nowhere it fails. Also I'm new to the mazda scene and i have no idea where to buy a lsd

My tranny shop is quoting me 1600 for parts/labor. Since I can find the parts cheaper I'll save a lil, but It's still not cheap.

Well at the dealer it costed me around 2,000 dollars for it. Don't get scared I also got a new clutch new motor mounts and they replaced the cv boots. I believe for just the LSD it would be around 1200 to do it. Good luck

Damn,I should've stayed with honda lol So it would be 1,200 just for the LSD or having them put it in too

Or get a Quaife, if you've got the money and want to not worry about it again.
