Just installed my header today, here are some install pics. I had made the non-fouler thing before I even got this so everything was ready to go. Enjoy the pics!

Thanks! Yeah it went well. The radiator...not as far as I know. Its been replaced once before though. Two front end wrecks, and it wasnt damaged in the last one.

It looks like a junk yard part hence the white numbers. It wasn't was hard as you thought it was going to be was it.

Nope, expecially with an air gun for the spring loaded blots, they came right off in one shot. Hardest part was getting the old shit out. And it was so hard to have it installed and not start it up untill I got it cleaned good, but I did. lol

Dude, no one told me those sensor clips slid right off of that mount, they slid right off so you could hold them up and get a good grip on them. Yeah it was hard, one had sand in it, lol, but I got em good.

Oh, and it takes longer to crank up I noticed? Just takes longer to build up back pressure because of the first cat being gone I guess. Engine seems to run more freely too, it hasnt been on the highway yet so ill let you know about all that stuff tomorrow night.

OBX header and OBX axleback. The axleback gave my car a nice deep tone, and the header just made it louder and deeper, and that rasp I was hearing earlier went away once it got warmed up good, I havent heard it again.

Ah didn't think about the heat sheild, but thats been my problem lately not thinking. lol Eh you shoudl sand and paint the heilt sheidl with high temp paint.

I son't think so for two reason. My eshuast is 100% stock with the exception of the header and it made no noise difference to me. Also it appears that he has an after market muffler on it hence the chrome.

but as far as cleaning the engine bay...whenever a good day for you after x-mas works for me

yes, pain in my ass. Works best when you get the bottom hooked up first, then put the header up next to the block but not all the way onto it and have one person push the pipe into place and the other pull on the bolt and try to get the threads started.

the header will be here whenever protephile gets them in after x-mas...im in on the group buy for the thunder headers....so i have no CEL problems since the CEL eliminator is already welded in....

hopefully it wont be long after everyone pays for them...maybe a month or 2

yeah just read this thread and see what ya think, also read the install thread and non-fouler thread if your gonna get the obx, but with the thunder header it would be easier, but still no fitment issues with the obx, i love it!

Yeah because before it would hit the cat right away and have instant pressure, but now theres no back pressure till the midpipe, which makes sence. But with the intake getting air in faster it might help.

And just let me know when you get the header in and ill let you know when I have a day off or something, it only took me 2 hours but I had a air gun for the spring bolts, you got an air compressor? And your gonna need to go to NAPA or some where and get a box(2 in a box) of the 18mm long spark plug non-foulers. You have to drill one out with a 1/2 drill bit so if you dont have a drill I have a dill press here.

Nice man. I remember when I first installed my OBX. Took me about 2hrs also.

Now I could do it in under a half hour. All of it gets easier with experience. Man, Im going to miss this car even though I went through hell with it.

I really hate the stock exhaust spring bolts, I remember that took up the most time. They were all rusted to death.

Well I sprayed wd40 on them when I first started the job, then a bit later again, and then when the time came I whipped out the ole air gun and popped them bitches right off:) And I did everything without jacking the car up, because I think without the air gun you really need some room to get a ratchet or something under there.

No air tools were used in any of my installs. From exhausts, headers, turbo kits. And back to stock.

Yeah, I hadnt used them before either, but after reading all the troubles with these bolts I didnt even give it more than a 1 min attempt with a ratchet, went over to the neighbors house and borrowed the air compressor, worked great:) Also helped in making sure those bolts are tight as well.

Is this MSP cat pipe the stock msp cat pipe? Might as well stick to your stock catted midpipe, the MSP one isn't any bigger.

stock msp cat pipe, yeah. i am only going with because i want the car to appear somewhat legal. plus, it will make it that much easier to stick the o2 sensors back in and keep the ecu happy. the ractive header only has one o2 bung.

i appreaciate the offer for the garage, but i can wait. it just sucks.

That's the pre-cat, not the primary cat. You can just like.. put it in a closet or something. I don't know how much a transfer station or dump would charge you to dispose of it, because well it's sorta hazardous waste.

If you can find a recycling center or refining plant, the cats are actually worth a good bit of money...They are made with platinum, rhodium, and other precious heavy metals.....

There are even reports of thieves stealing them to refine/recycle them...So don't think that the trash is the proper place...Check around your area and you might get a some money back for the cat...

My advice is to hold onto it in case you have some emission testing or you decide to sell the car....

I dont know if I posted these or not but after a bit of use my header looks a bit different. And now that I got my SRI installed my exhaust noise is a bit less, but I can feel the power better now:)

well I had an impact gun to get the spring loaded blots off to the midpipe which really helped, and good breaker bar and a ratchet set will be good for the rest. The only thing that didnt fit well was the egr piping. you have to connect the bottom end to the midpipe and have the header sitting half way on the threads to the head when you connect the pipe, with a friends help for sure, and then bolt it on the rest of the way. You might also have to unhook the brace holding the pipe up. Mine when on just fine sence I knew what I was doing. Ive heard that with the header and stock exhaust there was no noise increase. With my obx axleback it was considerably louder, my passengers said i needed a seatbelt light and an intercom because it sounded like they were in an airplane on the highway, but that all went away with my sri, now its only loud when you get on it hard. when the car ir cold you hardly hear it at all.

I say totally go for it, and if you dont like it for some reason and want to swap it back I know a few people who might like to have a lightly used header.

Correct. There is a cat on the midpipe, the resinatior is on the next pipe back just before the axleback. Now the MSP is different though, they have both cats on the midpipe, wonder if you could get a header and a MSP midpipe so you would keep both cats?

I'm tempted to get headers, but once installed I will be cat-less with the Cork Sport exhaust? Kinda spooked about the repercussions when it comes to emission time?
