I had to go out of town for about a month and I left my Mazda with a friend and upon coming back, I've run into a few problems that are just driving me crazy.

for one, courtesy of a neighbors misdirected sprinkler, I now have several spot with heavy hardwater/calcium desposits.

I tried vinegar with no avail. Any store brought product particularly good at removing this? or should I just start scrubbing with a soft toothbrush?

secondly, upon driving home from the friends house, I got stuck behind a semi in traffic and the front of my car has now been covered with a fine spraying of a flat-gray seemingly latex based paint.

I've tried a mother's clay bar, washing, an orange-oil based cleaner, even my fingernail and some water and nothing will get this stuff off.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Anything you've used thats strong enough to pull this stuff off without killing my car's paint?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try kerosene. I know it sounds dumb. But, when the main road by my house was paved I could not get the tar off with anything execpt kerosene. Just make sure you wash it after using the kerosene on it.

I had bad water spots this summer from my neighbor as well. Went on vacation for 2 weeks and came back to his sprinkler watering my car :(...I picked up the meguires 3 or 4 step kit that cuts, polishes, waxes...It worked very well but took about 10 hours.
