Over the weekend I got my front windows tinted to match the rears. Tint guy did an excellent job. It's 20% tint.

Anyone else who feels like sharing their tint photos?
Also includes what % the tint is.
Love my CX-7!

Looks GREAT !!!
Do you worry about getting pulled over in NY ? ie is it "legal" ? Just curious, I'd love to have my wife's CX done but she would be pissed if she ended up with a ticket.

^^^I was wondering the same. It does look good. I plan on tinting my windows next summer.

Thanks!
20% is illegal in New York (nothing less that 35% in the front is allowed). I had 35% front, 20% back on my last car (which IS legal) and never had a problem. My husband's car also has the same (35%/20%) and did get approached once (while he was parked waiting for our daughter), but didn't get a ticket (he told the cop it was legal as far as he knew -- and the cop could see he was doing nothing wrong).
Ask me again in a year and I'll let you know how many tickets I got ;)
Seriously, I see lots of cars with tinted windows that are illegal and I'm sure the cops have better things to do than pull you over for it unless they already suspect or know you're doing something wrong. The way I figure, it's the type of thing I could get an "add-on" ticket for... so if I'm pulled over for speeding or parking illegally I could also end up with a ticket for the tint. I haven't gotten a ticket since I was 21 (now 36) so I'm not too worried ;)

You are correct in thinking that, I've never heard of a cop pulling someone over for a tint ticket.

I did the same and it looks much better. I saw a CX7 on the road yesterday without it and it just does not look complete.

They're pretty relaxed about it in Arizona, maybe because its so darn hot and the tint helps tremendously.
I've had illegal tint on every vehicle I've had for the past 15 years or so and I've never been pulled over for it. It also never came up when speaking to the police after my Jeep got rear-ended recently.

What brand and type of tint is that? Does it match color wise with the factory? I know that my buddy tried to do that with another car, and the aftermarket tint was greenish, and his factory was black. And it didn't have the same heat defeating characteristics. Front's were a titanium/metallic film (not shiney mirror, but the film has particles of titanium), that repels 98% heat, while the rear windows don't have that characteristic. So it was uneven, and i'm picky about stuff like that.

Couldn't tell ya what brand or type. What I know is the shop I went to does a LOT of work for the Mazda dealership I bought from, and their tint guy is very good. Colorwise it matches. % wise it may be ever so very slightly off, but it's so close I'm not sure (and I have a good eye for that stuff... Artist by trade).

Well thats cool atleast. I have always stuck with 35% titanium tint from Solarguard. Very high quality and the titanium particles make a huge difference.
Rather than just make the windows darker, and still let heat in, you can feel the difference. You roll down the window and feel the heat on your face from the sun. As you roll the window up, the minute the tint cuts into the sun's direction on your face, you feel a complete change in temperature on your skin. Thats how awesome this stuff is! Sucks in the winter though, you have no help keeping the car warm from what sun you might see in the winter lol.

I have noticed the heat difference with mine. 35% doesn't match though. I had to go 20% to match the rest of the windows. Yup, illegal, but I don't expect it to be a problem (and so far, since my original post, I've driven by at least 4 cops, one of which seemed to be doing nothing.)

Here in MI, you can have tint with a legit doctor's note. The doctor can even fill out a legal form, so they will print it on your license. I am rollin with my legit (and verified) doctor's note stating I have photo sensitivity and can be distracted by bright light.

drive in to richmond with a modded car with dark tint. they LOVE to pull cars for this reason and then just tack on more tickets once they can examine your car. in va its a "pull overable" offense. got atleast 4 tint tickets in va, cops there suck

Mmmm, trying to remember... $90 seems to stick in my head... but I'm not sure that's right... Will have to see if I can dig up the receipt.

Front windows (little ones too) and 6" strip along top of windshield. Like I said though, I have to dig up the receipt... I'm not sure that's right.

I just had 5% 3M tinting put on all the glass behind the front doors of my Liquid Platinum GS AWD. It looks sweet. You can put your face up to the glass and can't see anything inside. The same shop added the 3M clear tape on the hood and leading edge of the fenders. I am off to the Acura dealer for my Turbo badge later in the week.

Inspired by the pictures of yours, I went to the "best tinter in town." He flatly refused to go darker than legal, as did the second best place in town. Admittedly, it's a small town. Still, I got the legal max and it looks better, but not as good as yours.
And, on 2 January, I got my first ticket in over 25 years (age irrelevant), for allegedly doing 88 in a 65, a quarter-mile after coming down an s-shaped on-ramp onto the Interstate. I'm going to contest it in court (guilt irrelevant, too). I'll post the results after my court date, in a different thread.

Red cars will do that to ya... LOL ;)
Don't remember where you're from, but in New York it's probably a lot harder for the cops to keep up with illegal tinters. There are worse offenders than just too dark (mirrored tint for example). I look at my Toyota Matrix and my hubby's car, both of which are legal, and there is NOT a huge difference between 20% and 35% (legal). Just to show ya... (back windows are 20% fronts are 35% and it's legal)
http://www.heftycat.com/pics/matrix_side_gfx.jpg
Since my tinting I've been parked next to, driving by and near cops and haven't even received a second glance.
Then again, I'm not in a red car.... (glare) just kidding ;)

Did my fronts for $50 here in FL. Came out great. Did not do the small windows but with everything else so dark you do not notice.

Looks good Moto, though I would have had the small windows done too (I did on mine). If you decide to ever do the sun visor tint (top 6 inches of the windshield) get them to do the small windows too. BTW, I highly recommend the sun visor tint... it really cuts down on glare from the midday sun.
