So my bushings went (yet again) so I called up the dealership to schedule an appointment. I've literally had my car down there 8 times (just for this) within the past 3 years so this was nothing new. Unfortuneatly, because I just went over 50k miles, they told me it would cost me $225. I was about to tell them where to go when the manager came out and said, because it's such a common issue, he'd do it for free and just bill Mazda. Wasn't going to argue with him there.
Anyway, I picked it up later in the day (the dealership was closed) and I STILL hear the #$@%ing clunk! WTF? They SAY they replaced the bushings so my question is... can something else be at work here?
I did a quick search but, since I'm at work and I'll be bringing it back later in the day, I want to be able to tell them where they bascially went wrong.
Thanks fo the help guys.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. Ive had mine in literally atleast once a month fro the clunk. I'm going in for my last service before my warranty is up, and I'm telling them flat out they find a way to fix this, promise to continue fixing it for free, and repair anything it damages(swar bar replaced several times now) or else I'm going to be taking my car, my family and my friends business elsewhere. Another thing that blows is lately my service dept. has been fucking me around ALOT lately....several things warranty should cover they've been trying to make me pay for. it's getting old for me...maybe it's time to move on.
EDIT* I'm also wondering, I was just venting a little. I've noticed several times now they say they fixed it but it clunks ALMOST as bad as before but now quite as loud...until a day or two later anyways.

Because it's just a temp fix. The only permanent fix is the clunk fix bracket available at http://www.autoxracing.com/

My clunk fixes have lasted at least 6months in the past... Even though my warranty's up, if they're going to continue to fix this for free (despite the inconvenience) i'd probably rather do that... the link you sent us isn't working at least right now) but I'll assume that solution's not free. then again... it's a permanent fix so...
bottom line: mazda, you suck! i bought this car in part because I expected tremendous reliability. whether I bring the car in for a blown engine or something stupid like this, it's still in for the day and i need to bum a ride from someone. (stupid dealership doesn't even give out rentals) as great as some people think that hyundai warranty is, I'd prefer to have a car in which I don't need the warranty in the first place. unless the dealership is next door, this sort of shit is a hassle and gets old fast. mazda really should have designed a perm fix themselves. think of all the money they're losing by having techs fix this proiblem over and over again.... craziness!!
so yeah... brought it back today and sure enough, the tech was like "hmm... I didn't hear that when I drove it." then I asked him where he drove it and he pointed to the newly paved parking lot. that was right before he smacked himself in the head.

Well there was a permanent fix available through mazda.. I think it was called the Delsing Clunk Fix Bracket.
And yeah, the solution in the link I posted (link is still working for me) isn't free.. it's 180USD.

yeah, it's working now too.... $180's not bad. I suppose if I'm going to keep the car for another 50k it makes sense.
I'll ask them about this delsung thing.... thanks guys

Clunk Clunk Clunk Clunk Clunk!!!!!! For god's sake! I'm tired of it too!!!! Cheap engineering, should have done it right to begin with, I think Mazda should be paying for that bracket! Cheers to the designer, will have to get one soon!

I don't think you can get the Delsing brackets anymore. IIRC, evolv bought the rights to them and used them to develop his clunk-fix bracket. I've got them and they make a tremendous difference, but I've got a clunk yet again. I had it right after I installed the brackets, but it was because I tightened things in the wrong order. This time I don't know yet if it has anything to do with the sway bar or not.

^^ As much as I love there work, I think it's more of a Racing Beat issue than Mazda. The stock P5 rear sway bar doesn't have any clunk issue.
Yes, the bracket placement isn't the greatest, but it worked fine with Mazda's rear sway bar. Clearly not enough long-term testing was done on Racing Beat's part to make sure it would all hold up. I just wonder why nothing was done before the MSP came out, since the MP3 had the clunk issue within a year of them coming out.

Back when I had these issues with my MP3, I was in direct contact with various people throughout MAzda NA, Japan, and Racing beat.
Racing Beat designed the Bushings to be in a different location. Mazda Changed it last minute due to weight requirements and cost. Basically, with Racing beats setup, if you had fat bitches in the car it would have rode like shit.
Crazy this was never fixed. Then again, neither was the Hesitation issue for the MSP among other things.
