Pardon the dirty car, she has been washed since then. This was right after she got a new engine put her since her original died on the dyno. I've driven her once and am working towards driving her more in the new year...She's not quite the same kind of "animal" as my Mazda. (shocked) She's a tad more powerful. LOL!

I also have a 2000 Mercury Villager Sport Minivan...But I don't have any pictures of it since I dislike it. I have been wanting to get rid of it for the past year...Which is why I bought my P5, but it keeps making itself useful every day.

And my BF also has a 2002 Kia Rio for his work car (he drives a lot)...But I don't have any pictures of that one either. We only take pictures of the fun cars! LMAO!

The SVT Cobra is definitely the fastest @ 400HP vs. MCoupe's 240+HP.
MCoupe is faster in the twisties..P5 does pretty well too in the winding back roads. I love jumping on the Interstate in the Cobra (drive2)

I just got this 1990 240sx se. First off, it's waiting for a nice red-top SR20det to replace the KA24e. If I had the KA24de, then I would probably just rebuild it and turbo it, but SOHC kinda sucks. I've got no money left for the Protege at present.

Thanks!
Yeah, it is a 1998 estoril blue M3 sedan, 5 speed, in excellent shape - I worked 6 months on it replacing everything that wasn't perfect :). The other one it's a 2002 estoril blue M Coupe and finally my 2003 sunlight silver P5.

I love all of them for what they are. Very nice and fun cars.

I used to have a 2002 P5, a couple of years ago...

http://www.msprotege.com/members/Chiguy_2002/P5/2002Protege5003.jpg

I then got a 2003.5 MSP

http://www.msprotege.com/members/Chiguy_2002/MSP/2003MazdaspeedProtege25.jpg

Which I traded in, and now have a 2006.5 Scion xB

http://www.msprotege.com/members/Chiguy_2002/xB/xB%2005.jpg

If I could have kept the MSP I would have, for a fun car...hopefully one day I will be able to get a PRHT Miata...

I like this color better than the Isotope Green, but Isotope was much more noticeable than Vortex.

When we got the first one back in '01 I was initially surprised about how peppy the 1.8t is. It's way faster than my P5 ever was.

i sure wouldn't kick a 1.8t out of the garage. they are such a versatile little car, and its amazing what you can fit in the back.

And the other car I bought!!

1994 BMW 730i(guy that sold it to me said it was a 740i, but I found out that wasn't true) e32 German Spec with the smallest V8 I think ever made 3.0 V8, crazy I know but I guess Germans know what they are doing, lil bit of gas saver/lil bit of power all mixed in one.

Others cars to come are late 70's beetle and/or late 80's early 90's porsche 911, pics of those whenever I find one to purchase for a good price.

As for a parts list, sure. I don't have much, but here are the basics.
Engine/Intake/Exhaust:
Feel's dual exhaust (one of maybe 3 or 4 in North America)
K&N air filter
AUT Design induction panel
Megan Racing test pipe

Suspension/Wheels:
Ground Control coilovers w/ Koni shocks
OBX front strut brace
Cusco rear strut brace
Rota Slipstreams (16x7 +48 Front, 16x8 +40 Rear)
Hankook R-S2 tires

Brakes/Transmission:
Techna-Fit SS braided clutch line
Brembo brake rotors (cross-drilled, slotted, plated, and cryo-treated by SubZero Cryogenics)
Hawk HP+ brake pads
Goodridge SS braided brake lines
Motul 600 fluid

Exterior:
Seibon CF 'TS-style' hood
ViS CF trunk
APR CF mirrors
BackyardSpecial CF rear spoiler
CWest lower front lip

Audio:
Pioneer DEH-P5800MP CD/MP3 player
Infinity Reference 6012SI speakers (Front)
CDT Audio Kama KA061 Component speakers (Rear)
Kenwood KSC-SW1 dual 6.5" woofer

Interior:
Beltronics FX-2 Accelerometer (w/ PC datalogging)
ScottAutoworks CF trim pieces

Then I've got a whole bunch of small stuff not worth mentioning.

Car won't stay this way for long. The Slipstreams will be receiving some new Hoosiers and be delegated for road course/autocross usage only. They'll be replaced with some Rota D2's (18x8 Front, 18x9 Rear) for street use.

Oh, and a turbo setup is in the works also.

I also need to get some new pics of my brake system.

Thank you for the compliment. The car is a 1967 Corvette with 31K miles and a 427 with 435HP. The car is an unrestored original car (even the paint) and is fully documented. I've owned the car for 11 years now. The original owner ran the car 12.9sec in the 1/4 mile totally stock. Modified (with completely reversable mods - it's got all the original stock stuff back on), the car ran 11.7 at 125 mph. It's a fun car. Doesn't have the technology of today, but is evocative of the time.

how much money did you lose in the process?Really none, actually gained. We got the car for below invoice which was 22189 or so. Then they gave us a great trade in price, considering my 04 3 only had 13,000 miles on it. Once the smoke cleared we walked out the door for around 16000 for a 2007 Cobalt SS/SC. I'm pretty pleased with the deal. Edit* I forgot to mention I added in 3k on the loan so I can build my MSP motor! So out total loan was for just under 18,800, for a car that retails at 24000.

Nice cobalt supercharged. Don't bother about the haters, enjoy the ride. The cobalt SS does have it's faults (so so interior, cheap parts), but its quick, handles well, the ecotec is a proven strong motor and if you can mind a more tasteful wing it doesn't look half bad. A few mods and you should be putting down some pretty impressive numbers in no time!(first)

my 'other' car is a 1966 Ford Mustang coupe V8 289 / 200 HP. C4 tran and only a 2 barrel carb so she does not have the performance of the 4-speed manual + 4 barrel :(

still, she has all matching numbers and, for the most part, is all original. except previous owner replaced the front seats with Pony seats. Looks real nice, but not original to this car.

she is undergoing a full concourse restoration right now. . .progress to date. . .

completely overhauled brake system
installed petrox ignition (no more points!)
replaced dash pad, trim panel, kick panels, weatherstripping on front windshield and back glass, and hood moulding

next project is working on the engine and transmission

also need to do some body work on the interior door panels. previous owner cut out a huge whole on each door to add speakers (the butcher! (pissed) )

fortunately, my best friend is an ASE certified mechanic and he has been working on classic Mustangs pretty much his whole life. So I really save on the labor. . .yeah, yeah, don't worry, I help out too. :)

his car is the '66 dark red convertible in the background in the photo. . .but his is a resto mod project. . .loaded a '93 EFI 5.0 HO engine with 4-speed AOD tran, and just added Mach rims and GT350 stripes.

Looks sweet, but I think I will keep my coupe stock.

P.S. Yeah, that's me in the picture. . .taken before I donated my hair to Locks of Love. It's taking forever to grow back. Sigh. . .

Thanks! She's Tahoe Turquoise with Aqua on Aqua interior.

Sadly, it will be awhile before my 'stang is back on the road. Right now she is in a dozen pieces on the garage floor. Sigh. . .

and don't worry, the hair always grows back, i chop & donate mine everytime it gets long enough :)

this was my 4th donation in about as many years. but this time I cut all the way to the scalp.

Why? 'Cause my friend was going through chemo for breast cancer and lost her beautiful hair. so I made this donation in her honor and promised to keep it cropped until her chemo was done and her hair started growing back. . .just so that she wouldn't feel all alone in what she was going through. . .you know how we girls feel about our hair. :)

now that she's done with her treatments, I started letting it grow back. Just having a hard time dealing with waking up every morning with a 'bad hair' day.

Oh well, you're right. . .it will eventually grow back. . .just got to be patient.

Thanks.

My guess is the beetle over the ms3...

SwampAss
03-08-2007, 06:26 PM
The beetle and chopper are probably a tie. And from entirely different groups of people. The chopper because they expect to see some old crusty beared dude when I take my helmet off...not the hunky dreamboat that I am in person. I am like a fatter, more rednecky Lorenzo Lamas. Less polished and without those long flowing locks. Oh, and the fact I am like kryptonite to women.
The beetle gets love from little kiddies. I'd like to think I am responsible for a hole slew of frogs on arms. I can't count the number of punch buggies I bare witness to.

The MS3 is invisble. No one cares about it. Cept for the highschoolers I learned in a fox body mudstain GT with flows. I passed them like they were chained to a pier. I kinda laughed because I saw the shift light illuminate on their 15 inch monster tach and I snicked into 2nd. You have to really suck to get beat from the dig by a FWD car running 75% power. 80% and then 100% didn't give them any better news.

Scary. It's what you'd refer to as a bar hopper. Since it's british and 60s...the shifter and rear brake are on opposite sides than what I am used to. No front brake and it's 9 feet long makes sharp turns very interesting. I prob ride it 500-1000 miles a year if that. It's fun, but not for long.

Ok, just added another vehicle to the fleet. It's a one of a kind 1976 BMW 530i Pickup truck. Custom made several years ago. It's in need of work, but my dad and I bought it for a project for a good price. Euro 3.3L, BMW Recaro seats, 5-speed conversion, Zender body kit, lowered all around, should be pretty fun to drive.

LMAO! We've tried that. My parents used to stuff us in the back for trips up to Georgia from Florida (10 hours). The most memorable trip was while having a case of Chicken Pox...Oh the fun! LOL!

Don't feel bad. It's the only one in existence. It's going to take a little time and effort to get it back on the road, but it came with a crap load of parts too. I'm going to take pictures throughout it's revival. I'll post a link sometime later. It should be a pretty fun little car...err...truck.

THAT couls be COOL!!
I like it!!
Better beaf up the rear susp if you plan to use it as a pick up though.

I see you own a '70 2002 too. I used to work for a company that completely rebuilt those cars... from the ground up. Actually, all BMW's from that '60's/'70's era. They're OOB now, but it was fun while it lasted.

Well, it won't be used to haul big heavy stuff like a truck, but it makes a neat car to drive around. Once we get it running, it'll be good to go.

Yeah, I have to decide what I'm doing with my 2002. I'm not sure if i want to work on it again, or just sell it. I have several cars right now, and not enough time to take care of all of them.

The early 02's are the best, Man!! Interesting, fairly easy to work on, fun as hell to drive and for a street racer, can go like a bat-outta'-hell, if built right. Less so as a track car.
I drove many though never actually owned one myself. I've slid more of them around corners @ speed (2/4 wheel drift) than anything I have ever owned myself!! (headbang)

The car is solid, so I really can't go wrong with it. I just have to get it to my place. It's currently sitting at my parents' house. I haven't done anything with it in a little over a year. First thing I need to do is get rid of the bloody automatic! It's complete. Maybe I will put it back together and have some fun with it. I know a few guys that would help me. Thanks for the encouragement.

Ah. The type "F" auto. Yeah, dump that piece 'o' shit for sure.
You're welcome!! I hate to see 02's go away.
Twice I tried to buy one and twice was unable to make a deal, but my boss had a highly modified 1600 w/a 2002 engine and the stock 4.11 rear gear set. He had some huge cam in there too, like 508/485, iirc. All I know is that the journals had to be carefully hogged out to fit the cam in. It was the biggest that would fit in the E84 head. And dual weber DCOE's, 42's I think, that were properly choked (venturied) and jetted.
I'd seen so many ppl that put 45's on there and expected them to work, when all they did was make the car into a pig and a gas hog.
My boss was something of an asshole, but that car was a real joy to ride in and drive. It topped out @ 105 because of the final drive but got there in a real hurry. Wish I coulda' bought it when he sold it. He had the 320 Recaro's and turbine wheels on it too.
Nice ride, Man!!

It was an 86. I actually had two of them. One was my parts car! They were both arctic blue. The driveable one had 150k miles on it with full blue leather interior and power windows, locks, sunroof, and seats. The one for parts had over 250k miles but was missing significant body pieces and the autotragic transmission was completely fried.

I ended up selling them both to my former bmw mechanic for $1250. The reason I ended up selling was because the brake calipers were severly rusted and actually froze on a regular basis. One of these times I ended up shooting through a stop sign and finally stopping in a corn field. When clearing those rust issues, I found rust all through the strut tower and into the engine bay. I was commuting to school at that point and needed a better daily driver so I sold it and bought the protege. I loved my protege, but I regret every day selling that car...

Hmmm? Around '86 the dealer I was working @ took a trade on an '82-'84 e model that I was looking @ then. I think it was that same light blue metallic color you describe, and w/the same blue on blue interior too. For some unknown reason, I mean I had driven 5 series cars before, I couldn't get comfortable in it and did not buy it.

thats surprising. That car was like driving a lazy-boy. Possibly because I bought the car in 2000 so it had 14 years of breaking in. But I bought it with 100k miles on it, one owner for $1800. Not a bad deal at all... The biggest problem with the e model was thatit was meant as a touring car, not a sporty car, so it only had power assist steering, so for spirited driving you really got your workout! The 'e' also lacked the pep that the later 'i' models had.

We've had a number of BMWs at my household. My dad's daily driver is an 82 320i. It's not the quickest by any standards, but it's a lot of fun to drive. You can flog it all day long and it just takes more. We have the 530i pickup, my 2002, we had a 73 and a 74 Bavaria, my little sister drove an 86 325es for about a year, and we had a 320i parts car for my dad's. Ever hear of the Senior Six registry? I believe their website is currently down, but those are the guys that i get parts and information from. Great bunch.

I believe I have a 4 speed laying in the garage for the 2002, but I'm not really sure. I know I have a spare differential for it, and it really needs swapped. It came with a Weber 32/36, and I rebuilt it...but I never put it back on. I can't remember why. It may have to start being built again...

hmm, ill have to ask my dad if hes been to that senior six registry. He's def a Bmw guy, there was a time when my whole family drove one. '90 525i (sister recently sold for 06 mazda3) , 2000 540i w/ M5 treatments (dad), 2003 x5 (moms) and my 86 528e. The virus is spreading to the rest of the family since my grandma bought a 99 528 and aunt bought a 2001 z3. Best part is, we always save 20-30k by buying them used. you should see the parking lot at our family re-unions haha, im the outcast (ughdance)
