wow.. that really sucks, espically since it looks just like a big fender-bender from the outside :(

totaling a car for $2200 is pretty low imo for at least a $10,000 car. I guess at least this way you get a fairly big check.

a cavalier got in my way.

coulda been worse at least.. coulda been an Aveo, accent.. or a crx..

Yeah, that sucks. I'd be surprised if someone doesn't repair it and get it back on the road though. You can do things a lot cheaper than what adjusters estimate for. We've scrounged up almost all the needed parts and sheet metal to fix my wrecked 323 GTX for about 15% of the original estimate. Gotta love Pull-a-part, lol.

Both are nice cars but the TL IMO has WAY to much torque steer and the TSX is very ballance and has an amazing 6 speed manual i would probably go with the TSX if it was me even though its not as fast its an extremely balanced and fun to drive car

15,200. Nice! Well I would have to say that I would be going the AWD car route. But, I have driven a TSX and it was a nice ride. I would pick one up if I could afford it and it was what I was looking for. Great choice, Acura is quality.

he said the rails would need to be fixed and most people and dealers dont want to touch a car that has to have a new frame under it. big pain and costly. but that doesnt mean somebody would fix it. but the fram is usually what will total a car unless the exterior/motor damage is very extensive.

ask your insurance how much the buy back is and part out the car on the board if you want to make some money.

The engine alone could fetch a good penny as a rebuild block..

Thats amazing that it was totalled out at 2200 worth of damage. From when my mom backed into the whoooole left side of my car and when i rear ended a Yukon Denali (brake failure) my car had 5000 worth of damage and my car at the moment is only worth 8k. The insurance said if it was another 500 dollars it would have been totalled out. Buuuut my car was fixed.

the turbo alone was quoted at 2200. the damage was 10,400.

and the turbo ended up being fine.

both rails were replaced firewall forward. engine was removed, dash was removed, carpet, seats EVERYTHING.

origannly we bought used parts from a member on this board but decided on all bran new mazda parts.

i got more pics of the teardown if u wanna see em i can post them.

aslo, hes lookin for quick sale of 10,500. it has 40,400 miles on it. NO MODS! BONE STOCK.

In PA when you wreck a car, and buy it back, the title will be changed to reconstructed. How does it work in VA? Does it have clear regular title?

josh-wa
03-16-2007, 12:39 PM
yep. clean title.

they have a dmv guy/sheriff come out and inspect the car to make sure it was repaired correctly.

currently the car is off at alignment, its getting an oil change, and then tagged and insured and it is good to go.
