easy install, and no, there is only 1 crank pulley, the others come off the power steering, alternator, etc. check the how-to section for udp install.

there's only one Crankshaft pulley as there's only one crankshaft. Someone who's telling you this, either must be mistaken/confused or just full of it, heh.

As far as the belts go, get GATES belts. You can actually go to gates website http://www.gates.com/automotive/distributors/index.cfm?location_id=539

and use this link to find the store closest to you that carries GATES belts.

as far as the instalation of the Unorthodox Underdrive pulley with the belts, here's a link (2nd post) of my write-up on how to install the pulley with belts.

i second that! I used to have the UO pulley, although I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend it for turbo'ed or S/C'ed Protege's.

i disagree with this theory. the crank pulley does not act as a harmonic balancer on this engine. if the crank pulley were to throw this engine out of balance, so would a significantly lighter flywheel. whether the engine is turbo or n/a does not matter. there is the thought that the lighter flywheel or lighter/smaller pulley will destroy the oil pump. if that is the case then there is equal chance of it doing so on an n/a engine or a turbo one. most of the people that pick these up from me have msps and have not reported ill effects. for what its worth, unorthodox racing has given clearance for it to be used on a turbo motor.

but i think this one of those issues where each side remains unconvinced by the other :)

I have the UR on my 1.8 ES and freakin love it!!! Gained 2 MPG also. Now I just need to put one on the 2.0 in my wifes slow reving P5. (same pulley)

yea I agree with that comment Ken. I've heard horror stories back in 2004 when I put the UO pulley on and I dunno how true they were but all 4-5 stories were about people with MSP's. Although I never had a single problem with UO pulley on my N/A pro.

how hard is installing this pulley and if I would take it to a shop to get it installed ROUGHLY how much you think they would charge?

considering the time, it would take about anywhere between 30 minutes to hour and 30 minutes. So deppending on the shop's labor rate you could be paying anywhere between 40-90 bucks an hour.

as far as installing, good thing that I've cought your post (thumb). Here's a link to HOW-TO install the Unorthodox Underdrive Pulley
