Can someone explain to me about the user levels? How do I play user levels? How do i know when I am playing a user leverl and when im playing an original level? Can I browse all the user levels? Search for them? Are there rankings to see the coolest ones?

Answers in order -

From the pod, go to Community. You'll find user levels there. If you're on Story mode, you're playing the single player game, if you're playing levels in Community, you're playing user levels. Yes. Yes. Yes.

We all know that obsessively playing video games can potentially lead to a variety of problems, but can it also be bad for your skin?
Skin specialists in the U.K. think so. The BBC reports (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7907489.stm) that a new condition stemming from excessive gaming has been noted in the British Journal of Dermatology.

Swiss doctors first identified the condition -- dubbed Playstation palmar hidradenitis -- after examining a 12 year-old girl afflicted with painful bumps on the palms of her hands. Thinking it was related to sweating, the docs eventually reached the new diagnosis after being told that she was playing a whole lot of Playstation (http://videogames.yahoo.com/ps3/), which further explains why the condition occurred only on her hands and not her feet. Even more incriminating is the fact that after 10 days away from gaming, her condition disappeared.

Having a disorder named after their primary gaming brand is certainly a bummer for Sony, but the company might find comfort in longtime rival Nintendo, who have had to contend with various reports of gamers developing tendonitis -- renamed "Wiiitis" -- from overuse of their flagship Wii (http://videogames.yahoo.com/wii/) console.

Similar in a sense to tennis elbow, Wiiitis first made waves back in 2007 when a Boston physician (http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSN0616721120070606) found himself suffering from a severely sore shoulder the morning after a rigorous match of Wii Sports. Apparently, he wasn't the only one. In December of 2008, British doctors (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,471364,00.html) actually issued a warning after noting a serious rise on the number of hospital patients complaining of the condition.

But while Wiiitis is bound to strike more gamers, "Playstation Palm" is just as fascinating to physicians.

"This is an interesting discovery and one that the researchers are keen to share with other dermatologists, should they be confronted with similar, unexplained symptoms in a patient," said Nina Goad of the British Association of Dermatologists.

To their credit, Sony showed restraint in their response.

"As with any leisure pursuit there are possible consequences of not following common sense, health advice and guidelines, as can be found within our instruction manuals, " said a spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe. "We do not wish to belittle this research and will study the findings with interest. This is the first time we have ever heard of a complaint of this nature."

Alright, I've got a problem and I need a hand. I registered my PSN ID as "mckraut81" only to recently find that the "t" never made it in, making it "mckrau81". How can I change my ID? I know I can make another one, but I want to keep all of my trophies and such. I'm not familiar enough with PS3 to understand how making a new ID would change things for me.

So, this blows. I have made a new PSN account, but it won't let me sign into it from my old PS3 user.

Now that I've made mckraut81, I can't marry it to mckraut locally on the PS3.

The only way is to make another local PS3 account and marry it to the new PSN account, but then I can't get to my save games any more. F&^@. YOU. SONY.

you'll have saved games, yes, but they may give you errors with a different ID. You can always make a new one, try it out, don't save anything, though, and see what happens. If you don't like it, go back to the original

I was getting aggrivated with it for a while cuz I couldnt find the #TRANSEND# folder cuz I thought it was supposed to be on the computer and didnt notice it on the PS3 menu....bu then I actually went into the folder where teh videos I had were and sure enough there was the file and it worked after that :D

My buddy and I play with the helicopters constantly. We usually grab one each and take turns flying through obstacles. Low bridges, close buldings, etc. It's a blast.

On and offline both. and it still takes like a whole clip to kill someone. But the game is awesome! go rent it if your unsure, but I freaking love it !

Sony is already taking a bath on the price of the PS3 unit. But they have to realize that in this economy, without a price drop, no one is paying close to $400 for a console with a spotty selection of software.

They need a lower price point. Heck you can buy a base 360 for cheaper than a Wii.

From what I know, they are actually making a profit on them now, but it isnt much. They have cut a lot of things out of the original. (memory card slots, backwards capatability, 2 usb spots.
I just bought the 160gig with drakes fortune. It was 500 bucks, but comes with a game (~$50 value) and since I bought it at target, they had a deal where you get a $50 gift card as well. So, basically, you get a next gen console, with an awesome blue ray player, for 400 bucks. I thought it was a great deal.

they do have a fan base...which is great, but that fan base has already purchased the system. Sony needs to focus on the people that haven't bought the system yet and part of that is lowering the price IMO, by now anyone that's going to buy a PS3 at this price has pretty much already bought one and everyone else is waiting for it to be cheaper. I know even a $50 price drop would seal the deal for me. Here's hoping..............

and maybe Jericho, never played it but remember being really into this horror game before it came out

PS3 overheated turned off and wouldn't come back on with a redbox movie stuck in it. I got the motorstorm 80g with 12 month extended waranty 18 months ago so I was prepared to send it off and pay for repairs but surprisingly the warranty I got was for the 2nd year since sony covers the first.

So I walk out with a brand new 160gb uncharted bundle with 3yr warranty w/ dualshock3 which should have been with the original ps3 release. And I still had credit since my ps3 was more $$$ 18 months ago I also have a $30 deposit on cod waw 2.

By the way its advised not to watch dvd's or play cd's on the ps3 because the way they have to constantly spin and read vs scanning like with blueray disks. This was 50% of my ps3's use but not any more!

I wouldnt expect either a new backwards compatible PS3 or a PS4.....the PS4 definitely wont be out anytime soon. With the upgradability of the PS3 a new system wont be needed for some time....

the only way to get a backwards compatible PS3 is to find one on ebay...but they aint cheap lol

i thought they had a patch you can download. not all ps2 games will be playable though. just look at wikipedia for the ps3 and see all of the model changes. the first ones had memory card readers as well, and the new one doesnt. they are trying to make them cheaper, so they actually make money on them.

i dont see a ps4 coming any time soon. the ps3 is leaps above the competition in terms of power. it just needs refining.

you shouldnt be able to hit a wall at 50mph to help you make a turn and come away untouched (lol2) at least not in a "real" racing sim.

If you like damage modeling, check out Grid. That game's freaking awesome when it comes to a more "realistic" racing sim.

I hope GT5 comes out soon, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. Promised updates for GT5: Prologue are long overdue, so to me that means they're really bogged down...

Not to disagree with you but if all they do is this, This game will be my biggest disappointment of ...whenever it comes out. They MUST......MUST...fix the blasted AI.

I know online play is where it's at but for the single player mode, they gotta get rid of the "I follow a preset course and don't react to whats going on around me no matter what" AI. That sucks ALL the realism out of the game for me. There should be a damage penalty for slamming my car into a wall at 120mph.

I loved GT2 and GT4 but it infuriates me when I graze the computer car in trials and I get a penalty but they barrel head long into me and keep on trucking while....I get a penalty.

Also the rally racing controls sucked (unless you had a wheel)....oh, and the AI was HORRIBLE.


I'm sorry. I just had to get it out of me. I still play GT4 played it yesterday but that game is so flawed sometimes it's stunning. I have more fun playing burnout or midnight club.

Gran Turismo is just a few tweaks away from being the perfect racing sim. I hope they get it right.

Audi is obviously looking forward to being in the coming Gran Turismo 5. Honestly, I don't believe Blu-Ray will be around as long as say...VHS tapes were. Digital distribution is the future.

I beg to differ. I think the Netflix box (soon to be in HD flavor) and Netflix through Xbox 360 is a sign of the times.

Digital is the way of the future. Eventually comcast and the other cable providers will have to add more top-end tiers for those that will use it. TBH, 250GB is still a LOT per month. You would have to be downloading almost non-stop to hit that.

Blu-ray is quite nice, and I do often prefer to have my own copy to use instantly. That's the only hiccup with Digital at this point. That's the primary reason I have a PS3, honestly. Besides, rent from your library, they're free that way...

Unless they have upped the quality of the audio tracks in dd I am still unimpressed. I didn't spend oogobs of money on an audio setup to be pissed off that what is coming out is stereo.
And if you liked the old street fighter ...then you will feel at home with the new one.
I beat people because they think that because I have ryu I will hadoken and shoryukenn the crap out of them.. I just close the distance and cross up combo the shite outta them.
If you suck go to trials, it will teach you a bunch of basic and some utterly effing difficult combos after you are good at those like 80% success rate you can go online and serve up some pwnsauce.
If you suck at street fighter, I don't know what other similar game to recommend except for soul calibur which isn't similar at all..oh maybe guilty gear or something.

They are totally different games. You cannot really compare them. If you like action platformers then you will probably like Infamous. Ever played the Hulk Ultimate Destruction game? Or you could also think GTA with superpowers.

Yes, rent it. I bought it, beat it and had no desire for a second play through.

There are puzzle elements to it. It's a side scroller game that can have up to 4 players doing co-op. On top of that, it has a powerful level editor and a huge community. So essentially you buy the game and have thousands upon thousands of levels to play. Also, the game occurs on 3 fields of play, front, middle and back. It's a little hard to explain, but if you enjoy side scrollers, it's well worth a buy. My wife and I play all the time and love it.

I would rent ghostbusters. I have it for 360 and it is a fun fun game but I beat it essentially in a day. Maybe like 10-15 or so hours. It is fun but just a short game. The online is fun but I do not know how PS3 handles that.

If your wife plays games at all, I would highly suggest it. The game itself is simple to pickup and learn. You have jump, grab and move buttons. But the user designed levels get really creative and expand the game beyond it original intentions.

Secondly, I would say Heavenly Sword (a little short but a great game), Uncharted, Warhawk (if you like online), LittleBigPlanet, Folklore (RPG-esq with a great story), Gran Tourismo Prologue, Infamous, Rachet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Resistance 1 & 2 (personally I liked the first one better but the second one is worth a play)... That's all I can think of at this point.

I managed to get into 1 game in my 2 hours of trying to get on. It's a fun game, but a little hectic. All the gameplay vids I saw were way zoomed in, in actuality you end up losing your player in a mass of 10 players often and just kind of button mashing and hoping for the best. The mass amount of players is a blessing and a curse, awesome to see that many players playing at the same time, but you lose a lot of your strategy when there's just a big clump of people together.

That may be true about the Greatest Hits, but Target and Wal Mart still have the game listed at $60. Besides, even if they did have it on sale it was $60 yesterday and $30 today. That's half off my friend. Picked up my copy today and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Nah, I've bought too many toys recently that I'd feel guilty if I didn't sell the old one. Just this month I've bought new golf clubs, a golf bag, a putter, a leaf blower and a car. (boom07)

new ps3 slim is gangster! I got mine for $26.00. I traded in a bunch of stuff and gamestop is giving $150 twards a slim when u trade in your reg PS3.

flat black (instead of the dust absorbing piano black)
2 usb ports
no external power supply (big black power block on the power cable)
no on/off swith on the back of the unit
the "on" and "eject" buttons on the front are now psyical buttons rather than the touch sensor buttons
the HD door is on the front rather than the side to make it eaiser to swap out the HD.
it also comes with a Duel shock2 instaed of the Sixaxis
It actually seems to be a little quicker on loading times.
I'm in love all over again! lol!

i still have a ps2, and for 100 bucks, i could get another one if needed.

and why would you stack anything on top of the ps3?

also, the last models came with the dualshock3 controllers as well.

my friend has the new slim PS3, it doesn't overheat but there is a bit of lag when there are heavy effects like rain and glare to deal with. I think sony needs to push out a few fixes to cure that

My PS3 was the last one shipped with backwards compatibility. I got mine in August of 08.

Supposedly the slim get a cheaper blu-ray player which is a few seconds slower, or so I have read.

I have resistance 2, and I see no pixelation. I also have back compat because I am a glutton for punishment and got my ps3 like a week after it came out, but I actually still play my ps2 games, especially god of war II, Soul Calibur 3, and ICO.
