Sony only allowing one warranty claim on system during 1st year. I purchased my original PS3 just after release from Game Crazy. After almost 2 years the disk reader gave out and they replaced it for me with a whole new one. Plus since they were cheaper than my original price I extended the original sony 12 month warranty another 2 years with game crazy.

Fast forward to today my son plays hard on mw2 and we all know the L3 run button gets alot of use...well it quit functioning :( The dude at game crazy said that if they warrantied my controller that is still within sony's warranty claim period it would use up my entire warranty. I'm assuming he's a noob and just doesn't know anything. After a minute of tactfull arguement he opened up a new controller and told me just this one time he would "help me out"

I had a weird issue today. I was going to start Uncharted 2 so I moved the PS3 from my Samsung tv upstairs to my Samsung tv downstairs. I got only a black screen. Resetting the video by holding the power button until the second beep during power on made no difference. Hooking up the composite AV didn't help either. When it switched to HDMI it wasn't talking with the TV. I verified cables and ports were all working fine, just not the PS3. I think the one thing that finally got it fixed was turning off the tv and pulling the plug for a few seconds, then powering on again. I did the same with the PS3 a few times. Then that finally worked. Even had tech support on the phone for nearly 30 minutes til I stumbled on that.

i think the 52 means that it was only me shooting that perticular person while 61 would refer to someone else shooting the person and me finishing him/her off...my best guess.

Rented BC2 today to see if my son enjoys it as much as I think I will and as much as MW2 (hopefully a little more)

He is obsessed with it... wakes up early before school to play. He is amazing and if you look at our kills rank you'll know why. 90% of his games are 25+kills and maybe 3 deaths anyway along with this being an 11yo kids comes much frustration when you have a crazy killstreak like that and then you die from some camper or whatever he gets a little upset to say the least.

I'm hoping he'll get into bc2 and it will be a bit less aggrivating...know what I mean!!?? :)

I was half way back and 3/4 back with the flag, got killed twice, and in the same period the other team had capped ours 3 times. Now... I know I wasn't being escorted, and I know they weren't defending our flag. WHAT THE FUCK!?

This has hardly anything to do with the PS3 itself, but it's still a fun fact. Does everyone know that the original PSX started out as a CD add-on for the SNES?


The first conceptions of the PlayStation date back to 1986. Nintendo had been attempting to work with CD-ROM technology since the Famicom, but the medium had problems. Its rewritable magnetic nature could be easily erased (thus leading to a lack of durability), and the discs were a copyright infringement danger. Consequently, when details of CDROM/XA (an extension of the CD-ROM format that combines compressed audio, visual, and computer data, allowing all to be accessed simultaneously) came out, Nintendo was interested. CD-ROM/XA was being simultaneously developed by Sony and Philips. Nintendo approached Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on, tentatively titled the "SNES-CD". A contract was signed, and work began. Nintendo's choice of Sony was due to a prior dealing: Ken Kutaragi, the person who would later be dubbed "The Father of the PlayStation", was the individual who had sold Nintendo on using the Sony SPC-700 processor for use as the eight-channel ADPCM sound synthesis set in the Super Famicom/SNES console through an impressive demonstration of the processor's capabilities.

Sony also planned to develop a Super Famicom-compatible, Sony-branded console, but one which would be more of a home entertainment system playing both Super Nintendo cartridges and a new CD format which Sony would design. This was also to be the format used in SNES-CD discs, giving a large degree of control to Sony despite Nintendo's leading position in the video gaming market.


The SNES-CD was to be announced at the May 1991 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). However, when Hiroshi Yamauchi read the original 1988 contract between Sony and Nintendo, he realized that the earlier agreement essentially handed Sony complete control over any and all titles written on the SNES CD-ROM format. Yamauchi decided that the contract was totally unacceptable and he secretly canceled all plans for the joint Nintendo-Sony SNES CD attachment. Instead of announcing a partnership between Sony and Nintendo, at 9 a.m. the day of the CES, Nintendo chairman Howard Lincoln stepped onto the stage and revealed that Nintendo was now allied with Philips, and Nintendo was planning on abandoning all the previous work Nintendo and Sony had accomplished. Lincoln and Minoru Arakawa had, unbeknownst to Sony, flown to Philips headquarters in Europe and formed an alliance of a decidedly different nature—one that would give Nintendo total control over its licenses on Philips machines.

After the collapse of the joint project, Sony considered halting their research, but ultimately the company decided to use what they had developed so far and make it into a complete, stand-alone console. As a result, Nintendo filed a lawsuit claiming breach of contract and attempted, in US federal court, to obtain an injunction against the release of the PlayStation, on the grounds that Nintendo owned the name. The federal judge presiding over the case denied the injunction and, in October 1991, the first incarnation of the new PlayStation was revealed. However, it is theorized that only 200 or so of these machines were ever produced.[citation needed]


By the end of 1992, Sony and Nintendo reached a deal whereby the "PlayStation" would still have a port for SNES games, but Nintendo would own the rights and receive the bulk of the profits from the games, and the SNES would continue to use the Sony-designed audio chip. However, Sony decided in early 1993 to begin reworking the "PlayStation" concept to target a new generation of hardware and software. As part of this process the SNES cartridge port was dropped and the space between the names was removed, thereby ending Nintendo's involvement with the project.

it was in just free play and everyone was getting helecopters. i crashed mine, so one guy comes and lands next to me, so i hop in. he then proceeds to fly all the way out into the middle of the water, and just keep going. next thing i know, he quits and the helecopter goes crashing into the water. stupid me didnt let myself drown and got out. then i had to quit or swim a long ass way to shore.

i could just say that Valkyria is great, but i like to over complicate things...
There is a lot of video and dialog to go through but i like it because I feel like i am reading a really good book then watching a movie and playing the game all in one. The story keeps becoming interesting and its more challenging than I expected it. Honesty, even though I just have not gotten far in it it is still very good.

ooh and im thinking of getting gamely. it should be a good investment.

I don't lose connection to often but did on the game about a half hour after you disappeared.

Had fun standing by the helicopters and as people climbed in to fly I'd blow the fuckers up hahaha

Went to the gamestop midnight release and played for about 6 hours once I got home (I got it for 360 b/c that's what all my friends are playing it on).

it is indeed amazing! the animations and graphics are among the best I've seen, especially the weather effects and the horses (for example, watch the dust kicking up from your horse's hooves when he's galloping). also, the mission structure is better than GTA IV, b/c there are more mid-mission checkpoints, and the gunplay is better, b/c there is a better reticule and less-obvious & less-annoying auto-aim. the story, characters, and side missions/mini-games are all great so far (texas hold 'em is particularly fun, especially once you purchase the elegant suit, which enables you to cheat - and if you get caught cheating, the person will challenge you to a duel).

multiplayer is fun, if you can get a match that functions properly - each game starts with a cool mexican standoff, with the last person standing getting a headstart. I don't know if the PS3 servers had these problems, but there were a lot of bugs and network problems for the 360 version on tues. morning - for example, in free roam, characters were freezing in place & randomly turning invisible, and it was hard to get into a game.

If you're comparing it to CoD or MGS, clearly you need to read a review. It's GTA4 with horses. And yes, there is Red Eye mode that slows down time and lets you take precision shots, but that needs to recharge.

I know it is a different type of game. I'm usually just terrible with any type of game that contains shooting elements, including the grand theft auto series.

I'd give it a rent then. If you didn't do well with shooting in GTA4, you probably won't have much luck here either.

I got it for $19.99. I am LOVING it. not boring at all. All the different ways you can accomplish your missions due to the destructability of the environments has me hooked plus once you unlock the nano rifle and the jetpack.......game on!

they are going to have damage now for some cars, maybe all.. at first the main developer didn't want it. the reason is that he says they work so hard to craft the cars and the manufacturer work so hard to make these cars he hates to see them damaged.

The system/game updates on this system are painful and tedious. Poor interface design. Shouldn't have to pay to get around that.

Sony actually lets you game share with up to 5 different people. Basically you can put your main profile on the second machine download everything that you've purchased, then switch to another account and all of the downloads are there. Sony actually encourages this. Having the same account active and online on two different machines... I don't know for a fact but I doubt that's possible.

I really feel bad that you PS3 people won't experience both Mass Effects. If you don't have PC and don't have a 360, playing one of the two is better than none though. Definitely play it, though - it's a great game/series.

That was my first fraction homie! I'm Valor at heart, but after being the only one getting kills and losing on your own soil gets boring. I jumped shipped to SVER, hit like level 45 before I stopped playing and focused on my car haha.

Shit if your down to play let me hit 55 (I think it is) and I'll go back to Valor, or we can both jump to Raven for something fresh?

I actually agree with PD's deciding to hold off on it. As a game developer they want their work to be the best it can be off the gate.
