I have a msp with 31,000k on it. I checked the carfax report on it and i am the third owner. I was wondering if i should have the ECU flashed? Thanks for the input.

Well, if memory serves correct, the ECU flashs adds quite a bit of timing which would be bad if you plan on upping the boost in the future. Im not exactly sure what else changes (if anything) when flashed, but you might want to search around for some more information, please dont take my word as law on this matter!

edit:
did a little searching and found some info in this thread

i guess it was a bad joke if it wasn't understood from the beginning and i'm not going to explain it if it's already bad. so yeah, a reflash isn't really for power gains, but more for how the car acts and feels. an unflashed msp has hesitation due to too much fuel/running rich, so the flash reprograms the ecu to make it run leaner. so the downside is that if you up the boost on a flashed msp, because it's lean, you run a higher risk of blowing your motor. if you up the boost on a non flashed msp, because it's already rich, the extra boost leans it out a bit where you will get the same results as a stock boost flashed msp. so basically, if you're going to be stock for a while with not a whole lot of mods, and want to up the boost a bit (up to 8 or 9psi max), then don't get flashed. if you don't want to up the boost in risk that you might blow your engine, flash it so you can just get better gas mileage and less hesitation. eitherway, once you decided to mod the car, getting an ems will override the flash so it wont matter in the long run. if you are gonna up the boost, look into getting proper supporting mods like an exhaust and what not.

Don't get it flashed if you love hesitation and power loss. I don't so I had mine flashed back in 2003.
