Alright, i have a 2002 protege5 with 75000 kms on it and an automatic transmission

the first sound is a squeak, it happens around 1750 rpm from a stop or roll. Its almost like the transmission is slipping.

Ive had the car checked out and irritatingly they couldnt hear the sound nor could they find a problem with the car
if you gun it when it squeaks, you can actually stretch out the squeak, so its more like squeeeeeeeeeak.

the second is the shim between the breakpads and the calipers sliding with the brake pad and contacting the rotor. After braking, the shim will still be hitting the rotor and when accelerating it sounds like i have a damn turbo.

now, when i changed the pads to hawk hps, that spring that helps seperate the oem pads was missing. Im assuming that this spring would have prevented the shim sliding over.

The shim has tabs on either end that 'hug' the caliper, but even with those tabs tight against the caliper, the things still slide over and hit the rotor.

For my next pad change, should i get the oem pads with the springs? that is the only way i can get the springs. you cant get them seperatly
