Im considering buying the new CX-7 GT with Tech package. But, Im confused over both the interior or exterior. I am between the electric blue and black colors. This is also with the interior. Could I have some opinions on the black and sand leather.

Thanks.

I prefer the blue...a little sporty yet classy and stands out and shows the curves of the car more I think. It's awesome with the silver tail light trim. I wanted the sand leather but all they had was black but I am happy...shows less dirt. Here are some pics...notice I added front chrome strips by the fogs...oh and added pinstripe yesterday...see photo's in appearance thread..

From where did u get the chrome stripes? Is it available through Mazda? Cost?

Do recommend the sand over the black? AWD or FWD?

I have the black leather interior on a GT package, so it has a little chrome or "bright plastic" to lighten it up some, but if you don't like a dark interior, get the sand. It is attractive and shouldn't be too hard to keep clean. I just didn't like the black "sport stripe" on the sand seats. With the GT package, you have to have that stripe, so I chose black to minimize it.

I got the strips on ebay for about $22 I think. Type in CX7 chrome trim or something. Depending on what you like and your climate black may be too hot if you live in a hotter climate. I love the way the sand looks. Again, if you have a climate that gets lots of snow on the roads go with the AWD otherwise FWD....FWD seems to get better gas mileage. I am getting 20.5 pretty consistently city with FWD. I am in Illlinois and it snows but not much and streets are usually plowed pretty good...a set of winter tires would be good too.

Still prefer the Liquid Platinum the best. It was our first choice.

Like a lot of things - this is purely subjective. But I'll share my rationale for getting the Copper Red Metallic. After looking at all the colors available (my dealer actually had every color on the lot); the blue was not my style, the white - although BEAUTIFUL - would be way-too-much maintenance to keep clean... but I did love the pearl in it. The Black seemed interesting until when i walked around it, I noticed a brownish, rootbeer-metallic tone to it which kinda tuned me off... besides... although opposite of white, Black also shows a LOT of imperfections and dirt.

Ultimately... the "red" did a good job of "playing with the light" and showing some depth. Truthfully, I would have LOVED to have seen a sort-of champagne-metallic or something more "classy"... but it is supposed to be sporty, not classy.

Under my sig-pic below, is a link to more photos of my car in direct sunlight. The color has grown on me.

Black is by far the most work to keep clean! Looks great but also the body lines don't show up as well at night.

I actually think the white is pretty easy to keep clean. Well, not clean but its not too bad. The pearl in it is awesome though.

Black is the best on just about any car, but not practical.

I liked the white and true silver. I got true silver because it was a luxury-looking color and the chrome accents look great on it. I really wish they had a dark graphite. The grey they offer has too much purple IMO, which makes it look flat in most lighting (same applies to the liquid platinum they offer).

Galaxy Gray Looks blueish in the sun, and charcoal gray at night.

I battled over color today when I was putting my deposit down. My first choice originally was the Galaxy (the dark) gray... but seeing dirty ones in the dealer's inventory made me realize that all winter long I could end up annoyed. The lighter silvers were okay, but kind of blah to me. The Ice (light) blue was very nice, and MUCH better in person and it ended up being a toss up between that and white.

The ice blue looked just a little too "feminine" to me... the white looked "meaner" but still classy.

And interestingly enough, getting the dark or ice blue in my area, with tech package and front-wheel drive proved impossible. Would have been a 2-3 month wait for either. I'm patient but not that patient.

My mom has a white car and she swears it's been the easiest to keep clean out of all cars she's owned. They get blackish streaks from rain and such, but nothing a quick wipe with a soft rag won't get rid of (when you can't wash it). It won't show salt in the winter and pollen dust in the spring. And I love how the white really highlights all the black detailing of the car.

So white with black leather interior is what I got!

Great choice on color! I got white with tan cuz I have kids and wanted a lighter color leather hoping that it would stal cooler in the summer. Had it not been for the kids, I would have chosen white with black.

Funny because I went with black because I have kids and didn't want to worry about the tan getting dirty - LOL! I will definitely have to get one of the sun visors for the summertime though!

I've read that the color that the manufacturer thinks looks best on the car is the color you see most in the advertising (which rings true--why would they not show it in the best possible way?). In this case, that would be, ummmm, Copper Red Mica.

LOL Azcat... we all have what we like. Being as I'm an Art Director, you are absolutely right -- but even THAT is subjective. If the Art Director and Marketing Team think red looks the best they'll have more say.

Big companies like car manufacturers even study the psycology behind colors. Red inspires excitement. It's not always what looks best, but what will inspired people to take a closer look.

Do love the red, but being as red cars get pulled over more than anything else and white is considered the safest color (and I'm carting my family around at times)... well for me, white was the one I wanted ;) -- I wavered between blues for a while, but when they told me 2-3 months wait, well I went back to white. Funny enough, even though Gallaxy Gray was what I wanted originally, white is what made me stop and look. The car they had in the showroom (black cherry) didn't catch my eye, but the white made me stop and say "hey, what is THAT??" (in a good way, LOL)

By the way, the ice blue does look VERY different in person. Based on the website I would have never considered it. Seeing it up close in real life it looked NICE. And I bet it's easy to keep clean :)

personally, I love the galaxy grey. I'd want something low-maintenance and not as 'eye-catching' to fool the police into thinking that I'm not the irresponsible driver i am :-)

Funny--I wanted the icy blue until I saw it in person--thought it looked too close to silver. And when the sales person said that there were seven different colors of flecks in the white paint, to give it the look it has, I thought, "Yeah, and that would be a nightmare to match in case it needed repaired..." I think my second choice would be the electric blue. I came out of a black Santa Fe, my first and last black vehicle of more than 30--I couldn't get the thing dried off before it looked dusty again.

Ten years in a red Miata and I've never yet been stopped by the police. Maybe I've just been lucky...

Hey man. I also live in IL (North Aurora). We got the same car. I also have the Electric Blue and I just got mine, Dec 28th to be exact. I still yet to take pics. I got nothing but praises from this car. Everyone that has seen it likes the color. At nighttime, the color stands out. I REALLY LOVE IT. Black was my original choice but the dealership doesn't have the options with that color. I'm glad i got the blue. I got the Tech package and Preferred Option. I'm adding Remote Start and Ipod integration soon.

The electric blue is NIIIIIICCCCEEEEE. And you are right, it's easy to keep cleen. While I do not have that color, my husband's car is that color and it does NOT show dirt!

Believe it or not, the white is very easy to keep clean. I don't know why that is because you'd think it gets dirty fast, but it really doesn't show the dirt. Also, I mentioned it in another thread, but the Advantage stuff works excellent. I've used it twice now and the car definitely stays clean longer. I've been through two rainy days now since the last time I applied it and I have NO dirty-water spots.

Get the Black...It is slammin'!

Even when dirty the white doesn't look that bad... and I agree the pearl is awesome. I have also have a black car and that is tuff to keep clean. Black is also the toughest when it comes to bodywork because it shows all of the imperfections.

Bought the car last Dec 28 and it's been snowing here in IL. The first week of March was our first taste of warm weather here so I got the chance to polish the car and took some pics. Everyone who has seen the car loves the electricity of the blue color. It's a different hue. The color stands out especially at night where the color sparkles like a cross between indigo and electric violet.
