Hey all,
My warranty is almost up (46xxx miles) and I am going in for an oil change here soon. I talked with the Tec last time I was there and asked if they had any kind of service to check over the car before the warranty expired and I was told that they do not have this. The next service is the 60k. So I want to get some things looked at when I go in for the oil change and before my warranty is up. What should I have looked over and checked so that it could possibly be replaced under warranty if there is a problem. Please let me know what I should do.

never EVER take your car to a dealer for oil change unless you REALLY trust them

well i dont usually but i am wanting to get the car looked at, if you all think it is something that i should do. my only other option is one of thoes quick lube places. I was going to take it to the dealer so they could take a look at some things before my warrnaty is up and posibly fix some items if need be. good idea or bad idea?

Does your car have any issues or are you just worried that something major is about to happen and you don't want to be stuck with a huge bill?

I am at 61,000+ and do not have any issues with my car. The only warranty work I had was the flash and bushings.

If you have not already, I'd recommend that you change the coolant, belts, spark plugs, pcv, transaxle oil, etc.

everything seems to be running fine. They stated that all of the above reccommended work is done for the 60k checkup. I wonder what they are going to want for that as well. I could do most of the liquid changeing myself i would imagine. never really done much besides gear oil and motor oil before.

A new car..... :(
Ms3 for the win(first)

My warranty is up May 30th 2007
and i have 37k miles. But i bought the car in may with 21k.

so im curious at this rate witch will come first. All i know is the 30k service for me was $500 bucks.

I love the MSP but i cant afford to pay Payments for the next 4 years on something with a Snapped rod/hole in the block/Broken LSD

So i understand your Feelings!

You can get 4 spark plugs, pcv, and two belts from partsamerica.com for $70. Two gallons of antifreeze and 3 quarts of synthetic 75W90 will run you another $44. If you have changed your own oil before, you will have no problem doing all of the above.

Most new cars today really do not need to be serviced without cause. However routine maintenance service is a must if you want the car to last.

its 4 years past the Origenal Purchase day.

AKA The Owner of my car before me Bought it May 30th 2003
So my warranty is good till May 30th 2007 Because its a 4 year warranty.

Or 50k miles..

So mine was purchased in Spetmeber of 2003, 28th i believe is the day.

Well that would make it September 28, 2006 which already passed. So i still have the warrenty cause i'm not close to 50K miles. But i just remembered he said that the 50 K would just cover drivetarain ?? Is he right?
And is drivetarain, suspension, transmission, LSD ? Anything else

Thanks Shift Lost

you still have your warranty till september of 2007.

3+4=7 not 6... thats 3+3 wahoo i can count!(first)

EDIT: why and how did you get an 03 in september of 03, sat on the lot for 10 months? Would make more sense if you got it in sept of 02...

I mean, in september of 03 the 03.5 was out and even by then they were pretty much all snatched up new

Yeay! I have my warrenty still! I got it in Sep 2003. Its a 2003.5 Brand Spankin New Laser Blue came off the truck, I got it a few days after.

Time to get my clutch and Flywheel re-done. I'll be getting the Exedy stage 1 after all. And does anyone have a code or reference number for the TSB on the gasket for the trubo ? Its leaking oil...

I dont really want to buy a new car cuz i would rather buy a investment like a house.I would love a new car but i overpayed in the firsty place so i need to get my money out of it. most likely going to keep the car for a while. my car runs fine now but thought i would ask if there are some specific items that i should have looked at before the warranty is done.

Look for RUST!!! In the wheel wells, the trunk, the doors, and the engine compartment.

Also I don't know about taking the car to a dealer to have them try to find things wrong that THEY will have to pay to fix. If they find something they may decide to not mention it. Then next time you come in they will say, "Oh, we found this wrong, give us $$$ and we will fix it."

i don't believe in extended warranties
they'll void it if you paint a bolt

No I didn't, when I purchased the car they offered me the extended warrenty for just a little more, almost nothing. So I figured that it was a good buy. If something does break, I will be back to stock before I even call the tow truck.

Thanks man. I apprecaite that. I really hope that it works out. It could possibly save me some money in the long run until I get a welded lsd and forged internals.

I have that same extended warranty to 100k- came with the car when i bought it private sale for 14k with 28k miles on it last november- had to pay a whole $50 to get the extended warranty transfered into my name.... not sure exactly all it covers though... i have a few mods but i dont think any void warranty.

So i am getting quite paranoid about my car and wondering if i should change vehicles to save me from $ and headaches down the road... haven't had my lsd break yet or any rod problem but it is only a matter of time... just torn cuz i really love my car and i want to keep it but on the flip side i over payed in the first place and if these things go wrong i could be putting that $ back into a newer car with less miles and not just wasting it on getting my damn car to move. idk what to do.. :(

Alright, I'm at 40K almost 41K miles....What should I take her in for?

Right now I have my front and rear suspension making crunching sounds everytime I go over bumps while driving and when going over speed bumps. Driving me nuts!! I have a Upgraded Smic, hard pipes, intake....They should care about that if they're looking at the suspension should they???

Any thing I should get checked??

tell them your suspension is squeaking.. Mods to your motor dont have a damn thing to do with your suspension, but if they're like the mazda dealership around here, they'll make something up and void it..

Meh, it's easy for me to say since it's not my money but I'd stick it out. Unless you beat the living crap outta the car every second you're in it, just keep up on routine maintenance and keep the car stock. Lol, you will however eventually have to either fix your Kenwood or ditch it because it will break after warranty is up (ask me how I know :D).

For me the MSP has been paradise, 65k, modded, and still kicking. It's not that terrible, I can think of far worse (lol, ever owned an RX-7?).
