Is there a special product I need to buy?

Mine were easy, so I didn't need to use anything. Your's must be using more serious adhesive. I guess I'd too chicken to use anything chemically unless you can find a place to test it first. If so, Goo-Be-Gone (that orange stuff) works great on labels.

I haven't tried to remove them at all yet...too scared.

Just heat it up with a hair dryer and pull it off. Rubbing alcohol can be used to clean up any residue. The alcohol will strip off the wax however.

I removed mine with heat gun and fingernails. On hard to do area, I also used some gasoline and have done zero damage to the paint.

take it back to dealer.. tell them you want it off. When I got mine, I told him if that was on it, I wouldn't buy it. :)

Exactly. Make the dealer take them off. Give them a choice, even. Tell them they can either remove the unauthorized stickers or pay you $100 per month for an advertising fee. (glare)

Unfortuantely, yes you did. Apply a layer of wax to that area, and do it pronto.

how old is it?
if its new (like within a month) You should just be able to peel it off... nothing special is required.
If its really old (couple of months of summertime abuse) you may need to use a heatgun (or hairdryer) and possibly some time of remover (prep-sol if you can get your hands on it or I used goo gone on my pinstriping and no it did not hurt my paint finish).
after its removed I would claybar the surface and apply wax.... if its been there a WHILE and a noticable shade is present you might want to 3 step wax or high-speed buff the car... should reduce/remove the visible difference in the paint.
hope that helps! if you have any questions please ask.
Sean
EDIT: I just read the gasoline comment... DO NOT try this... It will eat through your clear coat, esp. on any type of "summer-like" weather.

I would make them replace the bumper cover. That's bullshit.

It's less than a week old.

yeah then you should be able to remove it without using anything (assume its not blistering cold where you are)
It SOUNDS rough but its really not, just take a fingernail to get underneath it and try pulling it back. Worst case scenario, you tear it sticker which wont hurt the car.

Definitely, try the fingernail thing first and you may be pleasantly surprised like I was.

They're gonna do it wherever a front plate is required.

i feel ur pain, the dealer did this to my protege (neither PA or DE require the front plate)... so with the ms3 I was sure to say that they put nothing on the car...butttt they did anyway, luckily it was a sticker, not a plate. Sean can attest that within minutes of the car coming out of the detailing shop there were 3 to 4 salesmen franticly peeling off the dealer sticker

didn't know they were going to do that...i thought i'd have a dumb sticker, which i told them not to put on...i just plug the holes and had them filled the following year after all the paint chipped off from the flying debris on the hiway

well the thing is, it's not necessary for all cars in MA to have two plates..if you have the older "green" plates you only need one...it would have been nice to be asked first before they screw it on only to find out you didn't need it...oh well

+1. I actually called my dealership when I was 3 hours away driving to go pick up my car.. told them that the deal was off if they wouldn't take that crap off before I picked up the car (big Cape Cod Mazda sticker, not just a simple decal).
Make them do it so if they screw anything up you don't have to foot the bill. Maybe ask them to exchange it for a license plate frame.. that's what I did and they complied.

Use the "3M adhesive remover". It can be purchased at most hardware stores. It doesn't harm the paint at all(one of the few that doesn't). I used it to remove my side moldings and it worked great.

It's done. A fingernail and some patience were all that was needed.

The dealer pulled mine off so it must be easy to do. I have it saved in the glove box.
