okay so i bought a 1990 protege about 2 weeks ago from a dealer. it has 103k miles on it and in excellent condition. the guy said he had a BRAND new cluth installed, like two days before i bought it. no receipts though, siad it was under the table

anyways i was test driving it and it was perfect. so i bought it, anyways long story short when i am driving around, not necessarily even for a long time, maybe 5 minutes at the shortest interval, when i stop i smell something burning. now i checked all my fluids everything is perfect. but its only when i stop, it kinda smells like burning rubber. now the engine itself is in excellent condition, a few new hoses and a battery. i can tell the guy had washed down the engine bay with something or another, probably pressure washed with some chemicals, when i touch the bay it feels a little greasy. anyways

so the heater itself works great, but for like the first week i had it, it almost seemed as though the vents were actually foggint he windows up. so i talked to my dad and he said maybe its my heater core. but now it seems fine. and as i said there IS a new clutch, i CAN drive a manual, ill be honest, im not the best at it, but i can. so maybe its the clutch or heater core?

HELP!!! I DONT WANNA BREAK DOWN!! anyone got any clues?

where is the smell coming from? is it acrid? does it smell like oil, or sweet, like burning sugar water? or burning plastic?
