Cliffs: Hi All!

The long version:

I just side-graded from a 2002 Nissan Sentra SpecV 2.5l 6-speed to a 2003 Protege5 2.0l 5-speed in order to accomodate my new daddy-oriented lifestyle. I say side-graded because it was a give and take transition. The interior room and overall practicality of the wagon is vastly superior to the spec, but the stock spec stomps the mp5 for speed. The main thing I miss is the 150+ft/lb of torque on the spec that starts all the way at the bottom (I'm a torque fiend). But such is life, I don't regret it yet. I've always like sport wagons, and I hauled some 7.5 foot sections of shelving this weekend, which would have been impossible last weekend. Oh the MP5 does u-turns in about half the space as the spec also. I've run the tach up to 6k a few times, and it pulls hard enough to get on the interstate and be speeding before I merge, so what is there to complain about? And I was shocked to learn that the curb weight is almost identical to the spec v, 2730 or thereabout for both.

Anyway, just saying hi.. I probably won't be very active on the board, and even though I would love to turbo the car, having read so many great stories about reasonable and reliable power in the 170-200 range, I probably will not touch the engine unless I win the lottery. My one concession to speed and impracticality is that I demanded a 5-speed, and I got one.. the shifter whoops the spec v also, but I need new pedals. I didn't notice when I bought it that someone strapped some ghetto fabulous covers on there that click and slide and basically suck ass.

I just hope I never dip into my old habits and try to throw the MP5 into 6th gear.. I can tell it's in the mail, though.. just a matter of time until I'm tired one day, and CCRRRRUUUNCHH :)

lol just wait till someone sells a turbo system off of their car and snatch it up!

that way youre not spending uber money on one..

in any case, Ive tried to put my Mazdaspeed into 6th after driving RX-8s and MS6s during the day...

5th is blocked so you just wont go anywhere, youd really have to try to break into reverse.... so if you just accidently shift into 6th, itll just have you looking around for it.. lol Ive done it a few times and actually looked down like "wtf where is 6th" until I remembered it was MY car I was driving

Anyway, WELCOME to the forums! hopefully you stay active... lots of info to be had here.
