fmic or smic?

im leaning toward the smic... gains dont look too much different.

i have nothing done to the car now. all im wanting is injen cai, full exhaust (vibrant), customsp smic, and a few other small things. question is...

i hear there are stalling issues with the bov on the hot pipe... so what hot pipe should i upgarde with the smic to keep the stock bpv. and what cold pipe should i get for the bov on the cold side.

An FMIC will offer slightly better numbers than an SMIC at stock boost levels. However, an SMIC should be sufficient if the mods you listed are all you're planning to do. If you're planning to do more, or run higher boost numbers, I'd go with a front mount.

Stalling issues have nothing to do with brand. The stock BPV runs off the hot-pipe whereas a BOV is mounted to a flanged cold pipe up towards the throttle body-- not on the hot pipe. Stalling issues are due to the BOV leaking at idle from improper adjustment, in addition to BOV placement on the pipe itself.

it's not really a "hot pipe" perse...more like a tubular piece of ribbed crappy plastic. You could just get a flanged cold pipe + your BOV of choice, but usually they're sold in sets. Besides, if you're replacing the cold pipe, why not replace the hot pipe as well? An aluminum hot pipe is more for looks. If you want to run the dual BPV BOV setup, you'll have to drill a bung in the hot pipe and epoxy weld a 3/4 inch hose barb for the BPV hose, unless it already includes an outlet for it.

yes, race me. i have fmic. i want to see how much different a fmic makes to an aftermarket sidemount. jk though too far to race.
