I am assuming that the mazdaspeed protege shares the same timing belt as any 3rd gen protege, correct?
I checked out the website, and there are 2 listed - Yunitta and Tsubakimoto.
Does it matter which one I order? Thanks!

Sorry for the delay is response.
You are correct. As long as it is for the 2.0L your good to go.

So either brand is fine? Do you prefer one brand over the other?
Also, both timing belts say, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0.... Are they all the same/ generic?
Thanks again!

The part# that you need is FSY112205, it is the only belt available.
The 1.8L and the 2.0L share the same belt but not the 1.6L.

the 1.8 and 2.0 do NOT share the same belts... the 2.0 belt is longer
the yunita and tsubakimoto belts for the 2.0 engine are no longer available, the belts have been superceded to a gates belt

You are absolutely correct the 1.8L uses the FP01 not the FSY1, my bad.
To many parts.
