I'm going to be welding my LSD soon and would like some removal/re-installation tips from people who have opened up the tranny before. I know some people remove the gear sets while I've heard of other people just separating the cases.

Mods, can you please move this to the Performance & Nitrous Section?

*subscribes* because as soon as my T25 moves from the garage to under my hood, I think I'll be wanting one of these. Sucks that it costs like 2k for the LSD and it's pretty much the most involved install evAR.

Kansei you're planning a Quaife LSD?
The transmission comes out with the engine "in place", so it isn't that big of a deal if you have the time to do it. There are some tricks in opening up the transmission to get stuff out and you really need to pay attention to how things are connected inside so that you can put it all together again. . .then be sure to test the shifting to make sure it works before you put it in. . .now I know what I've said doesn't really tell you anything, but I'd be happy to answer any specific question. . .lest I be forced to do a whole how-to. . .and that has already been done.

Right now I'm planning no LSD because 2k would double the theoretical ceiling of my turbo project. I'm sure I'll really be sad that I went without, but I could spend 4k in much better ways than on a used pieced-together crap oem MSP turbo kit and an LSD.

Yea, but xelderx said there was an easier way in one post. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do the entire dissasembly. I need to find a technical drawing I guess.
