Did a search and no matter which forum I did it in, got back a no match (!). Anyway, I am looking at getting an MP3 ECU for my '03 ES. Does anyone know if the cruise control will be affected by this? I just don't know if the ECU has any control over the cruise function. Thanks.

It should be fine.

I put a MP3 ECU in my P5 and it did not affect my cruise. Different systems. Do it. You'll love it.

Do you really feel a difference? Ive heard stories from both sides.

Nothing earth shattering. Better power thru the band, smoother, revs better. I had to pull it for something else and put the regular ECU back in and noticed a flat spot in the power band and seemed slugish. Swapped it back in a hurry.
Gas mileage improved by 1 mpg on the highway. Need to run 91 octane or better to get the most out of the ECU. Very happy with the swap. Engine just runs better.
I was able to get one from a salvage yard for 75 bucks. If you can find one cheap it is a great mod. Car has 120k on it now, put the ECU in about 70k, no issues.

^^yup its a great mod...then add intake, header and headerback/catback exhaust and you will defenitely feel a difference not by much but noticable...

Agreed. If you can find one cheap, it is worth it. By itself it's nothing great, but by adding in other N/A mods you'll be able to make the most of them.

An MP3 ECU in an ES with a automatic tranny won't work- we know that. But what about an ES with the sport transmission? Would you be forced to always use the +/- shifting feature? Or would it still not work at all?

It won't work at all, because it's still totally 100% an automatic, the same exact transmission if I recall correctly.
sucks because the MP3 ECU is a really nice mod.
Oh and +1 for confirmation that it in no way affects the cruise control.

cruise is run not by the ecu but by another little computer so it's not affected....

is there any place that an MP3 ecu can be found or just keep searching for someone selling one on here?

Your best bets will be on the forums or salvage yards. You might find one on an online parts store but the ones I've seen have been way overpriced.
Don't pay more than @$100.00

100? wow I've never seen them sell for that low of a price. MSP/MP3 ECUs go for 200-250 around these parts.
maybe I should have checked a junkyard :P

Salvage yard is your best bet. I got mine for $75.

niiiiiiiiice. Maybe it'll be soon enough that I can do it to my P5 ECU before I turbo and put the MSP ECU in.
