Sup guys,
I own a 2004 evo, but my wife wants a new car and we're thinking about the CX-7. I used to own a turbo MP3 so I'm not new to mazda. The company I work for offers the Ford X plan pricing on all Ford and Ford owned car companies.
What are all your intial thoughts on the CX-7? Would you recommend it?

hell yeah i highly recomended!!! It is turbocharged engine shared from the mazdaspeed6 and mazdaspeed3 with 244hp and it is pretty fast!!! Fun to drive and it handles very well. i used to have a msp blue one and i wasn't sure to trade it for the cx-7 but since i got it im really happy and i don't have any issues since augost and i have right now like 7k miles on it!!

Thanks for the info guys... I will rarely drive it since it will be my wifes car, but she seems to love the look of it, and we have fond memories of my old mp3. I'm happy it's boosted and has a nice sized 4 cyl.
I'm used to the high octane with the evo and know what to expect as far as gas mileage goes.
What size turbo is it? What psi does it run?

honestly if you're looking for the fun part, get a mazdaspeed6.
I drove both at zoomzoom live. Mazdaspeed6 was so much faster. This comes from someone who literally jumped in and drove it (and I only drove stick once before then). It's cheaper, much sportier, handles better, accelerates better. Only place it's lacking is in cargo capacity.

Well it's not my choice- it's the wife's and she wants and SUV. She's not concerned with the speed or sporty-ness of it. I'm the one excited about the turbo (ughdance)

then look into the Rav4. If it's for a girl, that'd probably suit her better. Has better acceleration and gas mileage, too...
Though the cx-7 wins in the handling and apperance departments hands-down.

Weird - I test drove a RAV4 and could tell it had superior acceleration. The difference is the RAV4 makes less torque so you don't feel slammed into the seats.
Do 0-60 and 1/4 times lie?

I'm also an Evo owner. I'm sold on AWD and so is my wife. She has a RWD '00 Xterra SE and is looking for a little more refinement, a little more power, and a little more handling. The only thing I'm worried about is those first year glitches, minor or otherwise. Seems like every first year car has them. What kind of issues are people having with the new CX-7 right now? Also who's making go-fast goodies for this car, if anyone?

they suppose to not lie but who knows??? i personally feel the cx-7 faster and handles way more better than the rav4 sport , it has more things for the price and it looks way better!!! Just my opinions(peep)

The turbo is a K03 or K04 I believe and is pushing 16psi from what I've read. Not a big turbo by any means but it seems to work quite well.

That's awesome :)
Yeah- we're stuck with Ford, Volvo, or Mazda since we're getting the Ford X plan price (which I'm still finding out more on). I wonder what we could get a Cx-7 for OTD. My boss just bought her husband a brand new ford F250 with the X plan and said she just called a head, came in-signed a few papers, and it was done. No haggling on the price and from what I hear it's a smokin deal.

The CX 7 is a great transition from a sporty car to a sporty, cool looking SUV or CUV. I had an RX 8 and this fits the bill for sure! It is the best bang for your buck and it's a blast to drive. I am getting 21.4 mpg city and I am very happy with that number. I have the GT and it's nicely appointed and if you get the X plan definitely go for the GT. Handling, utility, cool interior, sporty look with a bit of luxury, turbo engine and you have one great package. It's not as fast as the Mazdaspeed 6 but come on it's heavier and a whole different vehicle! For it's weight it moves!! Zoom, Zoom!

Give some of us some time and we'll make it as fast as the MS6. ;)

After price comparisons equalize with the tech package you got the cx-7 as an affordable and fun to drive . We wanted a Acura RDX but it was to expensive for us. CX-7 was our second choice on styling, price and package after comparison with RAV, Honda CRV and RDX.

I signed up and got my X-plan pin today. Looks like it's pretty damn easy to buy a car this way- and for a killer price.

Well it looks like we're getting a CX-7 in the next two weeks!!! We test drove a 2wd one yesterday and loved it. We'll be getting s-plan pricing which was $500 less than employee price so here's what we're getting.
CX-7 Sport 2WD - mica gray?
Moonroof/Bose package
Compans mirror
black cloth interior
for about $24K
Not sure if this is OTD pricing. Anything I should be looking for or asking the dealer before we do anything. Luckily my wifes parents are takeing her current car so we don't have to sell or trade anything in. We won't have anything to put down, but the S-plan helps about 3-4K off sticker price.
Any pointers would be great. Thanks!!!
