It's funny how rare that color is. Mazda made a shitload of different blues for Miatas, but not very many Lagunas and not very many Lazers. I'm a big fan of both of those.

You've only seen one blue? Hory Clap! There were like 1,000,243 different blues from '90 to '97. (shocked)

Laguna Blue, Smurf Blue, Montego Blue, Twilight Blue, Starlight Blue just in the first 7 years.

If it's a Laguna/Tan it would be *very* rare. There were less than 450 of them made, IIRC. Even The Blue Potato is a Laguna/Black w/a tan interior added.

Well, yeah, but I'm no fan of the tan interior/top. It's acceptable on black, and kind of "classic sports car" on British Racing Green, but I hate it on red, white, or the lovely Laguna and Laser Blues.

I'd love to have a Laguna/Black. I'm sooo jealous, Nate!

so, what's gonna be your first mod?Few things... Probably clean it up. Then work on the driver's side headlight popper. The motor is good, but the pivot socket it worn out. Then maybe work on the top. Had a few small holes that were "temporarily" fixed. Then probably replace the headunit, speakers, maybe put the XM tuner in.

Probably nothing engine or suspension, it drives really nice as it is and is a ton of fun :)

They're even more fun with good suspension parts and tires. Corner carving little monsters. A nice intake, header, cat and exhaust, plus a timing bump, and you'll have some fun in the hills.

I think it does have headrest speakers (there was sound coming from behind me, although I didn't see where it was coming from) but I think they're blown. So I used the fade to put all the sound to the front and it sounds better.

I'm also guessing I have "A package" http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/5361/94.html

Because it has power steering, leather wheel, power mirrors, alloy wheels (and I think headrest speakers). If that's the case, that would mean I have the LSD too ;)

I highly recommend headrest speakers if you don't have them. If you do have them, I still recommend replacing them with the Performance Buyers Club ones. They sound fantastic! I wish I could put headrest speakers in the P5 and the MPV, really!

Are the PBC speakers the Max 5 speakers? If they are, you're right. Max 5s *rock*. They really do make a huge difference. My current seats have Max 5s (well, the driver's side does. I've been too lazy to install the pax side) and the new interior I'm picking up this weekend includes Max 5s in the headrests. (glare)

Cool. Then I concur. Definitely install PBC speakers. They are easily the best sounding headrest-specific speakers I've heard in a long time.

I found that by having headrest speakers, I could dial the balance toward the headrests, and send less power to the doors. This allowed me to turn the bass way up without distortion. It was wierd, I added tiny little speakers to the headrests, and it sounded to me like I'd added an amp and sub!

JD, sitting here next to me, just picked up a car for $700. His white one was $600. His red car was $1400. His titanium car was $1400. His silver one was $2000 and his black one was $2000. In fact, of the 6 Miatas he's owned he's paid a grand total of $8100.

I went from a P5 to a Miata and just couldn't be happier. Then again, my p5 was mostly stock and yours is obviously more modded, but man I still loved that car. Owning a Miata makes you appreciate how sports car-like the p5's handling really is.
Plus, you have to be in the right situation for a Miata. It's not nearly as functional as a p5 obviously. But if you can get by with a two-seater, a small trunk, and don't have many fat friends....it's worth a thought. ;)

Spent a few hours today cleaning it inside and out. (Thanks to Katie & Shawn for letting me use their driveway/hose/cleaners/vacuum!) It looks a lot better already. Snapped a few pics on Katie & Shawn's digicam, so I'll post them up when they email them over ;)

Congrats on the new MX-5! You'll love it...after I bought my MSM, I know that a Miata of some sort will always be in my garage :) You simply can't touch that level of fun behind the wheel for anywhere near the price.

Damn are the 1.8L's that bad? I knew the 1.6's are a better car (poke) but I thought all miatas would hold up fine for autox.

My 1.6L has lasted 2 years of events most weekends during the spring/summer/fall including 2 trips to Topeka, KS and well as a trip to Peru, IN and Boston, MA for events. The only thing I "had" to replace was the clutch. But we are also talking about something close to 400+ autocross runs in the car.
