My wife and are are getting near buying a new car. I had never considered buying a Mazda but when we went by the dealership we both fell in love with the looks of the Mazda3.

I have a few questions about what were are looking for because we are sadly trading in a 2001 xtra cab toyo prerunner due to gas mileage and more room. We'll miss the truck but it's time.

*) Is the backseat usable for normal size adults. This is the main reason we are looking because when people visit now we drive their cars because of the truck.

*) I know the car handles well and has power, but does it still have a good ride on the interstate and not so great roads?

*) How is wind noise? Another reason we are looking, truck is loud

*) Comfortable on long trips?

*) Finally, we can' decide between the sedan or 5 door, any pro's or cons between the two other than more storage room in the 5door?

thanks alot for the help.

Hello! and welcome to the forums!

Let me try to answer some of your questions:

*) Yes the backseats is usable for adults. I do some car pooling and i fit 2 and some times 3 adults on the back seat. Not great for extedned trips; but anything under 1 hour is fine.

*) Great ride on the interstate; you would be surprised at the quick acceleration at highway speeds; and the handling is phenomenal. I am pretty sure that better than a truck.

*) Wind noise is not totally mute but it is not annoying or droning. If you keep your windows closed and you dont have a sunroof wind defelctor then you will have less noise. I dont have any complains on this department and i do a lot of highway traveling at high speeds.

*) Yes it is; as mentioned above. The front 2 passengers are very comfortable. I made a 7 hour trip and i didnt even have to stop to stretch i was so comfy.

*) I would have to recommend the sedan. Yes it ios true that you may get more storage in the hatch; but i believe you may lose some room on the back seat. I cannot confirm this but i think head room is better in the sedan than in the hatch; strangely enough. The sedan is much sexier.
But again; i am biased cause i really dislike the hatch.

thanks for the input. I like the hatch, but I think I'd like the sedan with a spoiler better. I read some where that a guy thought the hatch had a little more noise, dunno though.

Anyone know if the spoiler can be installed by the dealer if not on the car?
