Yellow fogs?

Anyone install yellow bulbs into their fog lights yet? If so, pics? I've been thinking about it. Opinions, do they make an improvement over white, particularly in snow and rain?

What about some of this Rockblocker film (http://www.rockblocker.net/store/37182.htm)? Will that actually put out a yellow tint light at night? Or, will it still put out a whitish light and just look yellow in the day when turned off? Admitedly, I do want this mod partly for looks, but not if applying a colored fim will cut performance.

The rockblocker gives you the added benefit of what the name implies. The film doesn't block output as much as you'd think. They were a supporting vendor on srtforums.com for a long time, but I didn't see a vendor section for them. I was gonna find some before/after pics. Plus they're cheaper/easier than buying yellow bulbs.

When I was still using the oem fogs on my WRX, I switched the bulbs to Hella Yellowstars. Awesome bulbs. Not too yellow but yellow enough to cut through rain and fog. Bought them from this famous rally parts store:

The actual bulbs will probably provide slightly higher quality light, but the rockblockers give the yellow fog look during the daytime, too. Both are < $20. Hard to say, but since it appears the rockblockers do give off an actual yellow light as well, I might go with them. thanks guys...

Guys..a little of topic.. my Mazda5 did not cone with fogs. I don't want to spend the big coin on OEM fogs. Can I get away with a regular set of 3" fogs from aftermarket ? The wiring is there correct ?

I've got yellow fogs in mine. They're Lumincs bulbs and the bulbs themselves look cheap and crappy, but so far they have served me well. I've got around 8 months on them now and they are still even in color and haven't given me any trouble.

I would sugest the rockblocker. I have done my headlights, tail lights, foglights and bumper in rockblocker. it not only looks good but it protects your car from rock chips. Its a win win situation.

There's alot of SRT guys having problems with the Rockblocker film discoloring/melting from hot fogs. This is only a problem if guys have a habit of sitting still for long periods of time with the fogs on, as they tend to run pretty hot. I'm not sure how hot the Mazda fogs run, but it's not an issue as long as the car keeps moving to keep them cool. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I had the bluebatmobile overlays peel and crack on my fogs. I have had the rockblocker on for about a year and no issues. I even hit a gardrail and all it did was slightly skuff the rockblocker but cracked my headlight.

If you are running stock bulbs in the Mazda you shouldn't have any melting problems.

I'm on the same boat as you. I on the other hand am planning to transplant the OEM fogs from my WRX (using Hella 500's on it) to the 5. Haven't gotten around to doing it but hopefully soon.

I've read that yellow lights dont actually cut through fog and rain like everyone thinks. I tried looking for the article i read on the issue but couldnt find it. If you like the look of yellow then do it. If not then stick with your stockos. I personally love the look of my new white ones. :P

I was always under the impression that yellow wasn't so much about cutting through the fog as it was about the yellow color being easier on the eyes when it's reflected back at the driver.

Personally, I did the yellow fogs because it looks cool. :cool: lol

i have yellow piaa bulbs in my piaa round 40 foglights and love how much more you can see with the yellow bulbs on!!!!

I have yellow rockblocker film on my fogs for my mazda5 and blue on my fogs on the mx-5. I think it looks cool. So far it's great - don't know if it does much for performance, but it helps my friends always tell if it's me coming down the road at night....
