Hey guys i have a few questions about this short shifter. Did a quick search and couldnt find anything.

1. How does it compare to the Kartboy shifter in length. how much shorter roughly is it than stock.

2. Does this package come with bushings or do i need to buy them seperate. are they any good if they do come with?

3. Does the stock knob screw on or do i need to buy an aftermarket knob?

THANKS alot for your help,
Nik

Fidanza does make a short shifter for us, but its aluminum though. And yet again it is CNC machined.

Here's what I've found through google.com

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000ECVS7I/yahoo-auto-20/ref=nosim

Product Description
Built for the (92-03) Mazda Protege... There are so many shifters on the market, but Fidanza's innovation and quality set their short throw shifters well ahead of the pack. Fidanza's unique designs are made from the highest quality aluminums, including the super strong 2024 T3. Using three dimensional imaging and CNC machining to get the finest profile for fit and functionality, Fidanza further enchances their short throw shifters by using roller bearing-enhanced pivot points. The shorter the throw, the quicker you go and Fidanza's innovations will get you to the finish line first.

I have recently installed one on my pro and it feels good. Like all other short shifters you will have some interference with the heat shield, but other than that, nothin major. I have an issue when I shift/downshift in 2nd gear, somewhat of a grinding going on, I'll further inspect that. Shifter height is reduced by about 2". Throw is about 20-30% shorter, though hard to say. Original shift knob will fit on the shifter, though I have machined a new knob myself. Installation is pretty straight forward. If you have any questions, feel free to PM or ask on this discussion.

Any idea on length compared to other short shifters? I know Kartboy's is very short in length and the B&M and TWM are pretty close to each other right?

I haven't seen the other shifters, so I am unable to compare, but I can say this, the original shift boot fits fairly well with the after-market shifter.

Thanks VinceLG, Did your package come with bushings? if so what ones. Also if you dont mind me asking, where from and how much did you get it for?

Unfortunately, no bushings came with the shifter, so I used the original nyloil bushings. I bought mine off Ebay for $59.99US, but you might find a better price at certain times.

Should i be worried that this is only aluminum? Any issues with aluminum shifters snapping or being dented easily? i found a site that sells this shifter for $48 shipped think ill buy it.

I have a TWM short shifter...that i am very happy with. It is alot shorter than stock and much easier shifting. Came with all the bushings.
