Hi folks:
Have been travelling but now that I got home, 1st thing I did was to install the VG Sharkfin that had arrived.
My wife also took the liberty to buy a Thule roof rack.
I definately like the way the sharkfin mirrors the shape of the 5.
What do you think?

I prefer the whip, but the Jaws looks good too :)
Thule box looks wonderful, too... I voted "Love it"

Hey jandree:
Saw on the other thread that u got your 5!!! Congrats. The white looks great.
BTW, the reason the wife bought the roof rack, was so that we could go on arood trip this long weekend, to upstate NY and PA.
Keep an eye out for an Ontario 5 with a roof rack ;-)

Can you get a close up of the attachment of the rack to the car? Pleeeeease?
And what's your first impression of the paint quality/overall quality of the antenna?

I like the antenna but never had a thing for roof racks. That was the first thing I got rid of on my P5.

Dommo, check back this evening, I will take a picture of the rack to car section.
The fin's paint quality I thought was 100% and a dead on match. And excellent quality overall, with actual antenna component "etched" to the inside body.
Looks like a totally professional build and not just a shell.
I will reply back once it goes through a car wash(nervous)

How much installation movement capability is there with the sharkfin? Can it be shifted forward at all? We have the sirius antenna mounted right behind the regular antenna - it seems like there'd be no way to do both.... :(

nocturne1,
I think I saw somewhere that someone installed a fin and the Sat antenna together. Found someone that has Sat antenna installed with Fin at : http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123637355&highlight=shark
Also the reception sounds no different than the original long whip. I have the feeling that if I were to drive down a garage, the whip would work a bit better, but did not try it.
We&2Kids,
I got from: http://www.sharkfinantenna.com/home.html
jandree,
thanks a lot for the info, fall sightseen is exactly why we are driving this weekend, so thanks for the info. If you have any suggestions for roads, towns, accomodations for a long weekend trip from Toronto to Upstate NY and PA it would be great. PM me if you have any suggestions.

Hi All,
Picking up our 2006 5 this weekend. Both of these are things I would like to add/change - so first off, thanks for the post and the good info.
I would like to ask on question about the rack, in particular the mounting of it. Is it removable... If what I see in the pics is right it looks like it bolts into the 4 slots along the rubber track in the roof...?? is that correct, so is it reasonably easy to remove then?
Cheers,
MK

The rack can be installed and removed without using any tools...Takes about 10mins to install....Same time to remove.....Just have to remember to keep the plastic covers for the roof slots handy.....I lost mine.
