is it just me or is there no real wheel gap on the ms3? Almost all japanese/american factory cars, even those tuned for performance that look sick have noticable wheel gap that I immediatly want to shave away with some springs or something ot make it look just right, but im not seeing that so much in pics of the ms3....
your thoughts?

I agree, the tires seem to meet with the fenders nicely.
Hey Slug, I work in West Springfield now at Balise Toyota. (ISM).
I will be looking at Balise's MS3 when it comes in this week. Red GT leather, Nav I think, loaded.

nice, let me know what you think of it.
might you get it or are you just looking?
If they offered it with a sunroof it might be my next car...

I checked again today and I didn't see it. He told me first week in Oct.It could be my next car too. Almost seems dumb to spend 30k+ on an STI.
I also have my eye on a Scion TC with the full Rado extreme wide body kit, suspension, turbo kit, 18"- 10" and 12" wide wheels etc for about 26ish.

my .02: stick with the ms3 :) ........even if the scion was 6ish
tsunami

yeah that scion looks like some kindegardeners rendition of a 350z...
im sure its fast and all and looks are whatever.. but for the same money you get probably as fast... looks aren't over the top though, but you do get a warranty.

See I work for Toyota so the car would be 14ishand I would get the kit and labor for cost. It would be one hell of a head turner. Good / bad thing is a could get basically what ever I want at cost. Balise has a TON of different dealerships.
slug420
10-04-2006, 11:48 PM
wow man, balise has dealerships for every make! (just checked it out, baliseauto)
scion would definitely not be on my shopping list with all those to chose from
what kinda price do you get on IS350s?
you get the same deep discount on the MS3?

Everyone in the USA that works at the dealship gets some kind of special pricing. Ford has the D-plan for employees and the A-plan for FORD employees etc.
IS350 are expensive they START at 30k with nothing added. Even the IS250 starts at 27k again with nothing on it.
Now the MS3 GT LOADED out, nav - Sat radio would be about 24K. That would be a deal.
The TC with the wide body kit, suspension, turbo kit, huge wheels, would beat or match the MS3 for proformance, and look way way cool. Basically one of a kind. Complete custom. A real head turner.

is all that stuff being done to the scion done by scion? I didnt realize they offered all that. Or are you buying the kit and having the dealership do the install at cost?
Either way I still never cared for the looks of the scion and the functionality of a wagon really appeals to me more than a coupe. Is that 24k loaded price on the ms3 an S-Plan price? And could you get a sunroof put in yours for cheap?
I know the IS350s are expensive, not really a car that fits into this discussion, just one I have been looking at for myself...didnt know if you got them really cheap through the employee plan.

The kit would be done through the dealership, cost or whatever, not sure 100% on all the prices. It's all pretty much just estimates at this point.
The Tc is nice but not that exciting IMO but with the wide body kit it's killer. The rear wheels are unreal! 12 inches across! I am not sure what the plan is called but it gets down to what the dealer you work for does for it's employees. I don't think there is a specific plan name. The MS3 does not come with a sunroof? Even the GT? I'm sure I could get a sunroof for a good price through one of our after market companies.

No sunroof. Kinda sux, I really wanted one, I was told it would compromise the stiffness of the vehicle.(pissed) Not a deal breaker for me though.
I wish I could have went locally for my ms3. I e-mailed Balise Mazda but they weren't clear on their price for the vehicle. Instead I have my deposit at a connecticut dealership.

If you want dude I can meet you at Balise Mazda and tell them you are a board member and I can nail down the price for you and hook you up with a good salesman. Seems to me Balise is a great company to do business with. Where do you live?

^^ have you sat in a P5 with a moonroof? It's a waste of money IMO. When you are driving the car you can't see that it's even there. And when I'm wearing a helmet I have to have my head where the moonroof glass is because I can't fit otherwise.. and you know how small I am haha.
edit: that being said, I still love mine. I just wouldn't be turned away from a car because I couldn't get it with one. I just use it for ventilation purposes

well i guess that makes it good that i never had one put in. I totally miss having one in the car though. I will not buy another car without one...was thinking of having one put in my truck too.
FWIW i have remarkable amounts of headroom in my msp and I think I have had sufficient head room in both a p5 and 3 wagon each with a sunroof. Probably because due to my enormity and my 389foot arms I recline quite a bit and sit in what is probably the worst possible position for my overall posture.

oh ok good point.. you can clearly see my driving position isn't very much "reclined" at all in my sig pic haha. The Protege does have a very decent amount of headroom though. With the moonroof, the back seat actually has more headroom than the front. My 6'7" friend could comfortably sit in the back seat but the front seat.. well that just wasn't happening. The front passenger seat sits very high since it can't be lowered like the driver seat.

The sunroof is cool for the first 6 months in the car, then ...bla, no biggie.
I wonder if today they got the MS3 in...

I live 10 min away. The only thing is, I was given msrp on the speed, but I was told that I might have to wait til december. Don't know if I can wait that long. Do you know off hand how much they will be selling them for? If I could buy locally that would be a plus.

so they put uber wide rims on the REAR of a car that has FWD?!

Umm yes they did, the rear has a 10 inch addition to the body on each side. The 12inch wheels fit the rear and match up with the sides of the new fenders. Smaller wheels would look funny.
nate0123

that makes it all the more poseur-esque
the only reason to put huge rear wheels & tires on a car is to handle large amounts of RWD power and control oversteer

wow you didn't think too much before you posted....
The larger wheels are choosen because of the added body. This way the wheels reach the outside of the fenders. It's just for looks. Skinny wheels would look silly back there with a huge rear end. large amounts of RWD power is not the only reason to have large rear wheels. Tucked in wheels would look funny. This way the edge of the wheel and tire combo line up or match the additional added fenders.

To me, a FWD body, even when styled completely for looks, should not be styled in a way that accentuates the rear wheels. From a design standpoint, it doesn't make sense. I think any other designers on this forum would back me up on this. The body kit could/should be tweaked such that the rear fender flares were not any more pronounced than the fronts, and thus would not need wider wheels/tires in the rear than in the front.

So you are saying the front fenders should be wider than the back? Wow ok.:)
Look you don't have to like it but just understand the wheels in the back are bigger because the body kit is wider in the back.

I said that the rear wheels shouldn't be wider than the front. Equal width is fine. And, I understand that the wheels correspond to the kit, but the kit should be tweaked because it is projecting the appearance of RWD. It's no better to me than a fake FMIC on a N/A car.

Not far at all. I'm having the lady dealer that i'm working with look me up a white base. I'm going to ask her today for one w/ a sunroof. It's getting pretty interesting. I don't know man, that awd would be nice in these north eastern winters. If the price is right I would head over there this weekend. If you could find out how deep these discounts are that would be awesome.

All I know is I went over there this past week and they were saying they wanted to move some of the MS6's they had. Best thing to do is play the game...come over there with me, I will be working all weekend and be ready to buy. If they see your serious it will make a difference. Bring the price you already received and have them beat it. Today I work the 12 to 9 shift so I will call up my buddy there and find out what they are going for. PM me your name and stuff.
