The info for this is now currently listed in its own in the accessories catalog.
For most models it will be at a website price of 119.00 shipped.
If you are one of the lucky ones that have an 07 Mazda 3 with an Auxilary jack then you will have to pay 220.00 shipped.
Also if you have Sat kit or the phatnoise system you will not be able to use this with those systems as the use the same port on the back of the unit.
Lastly, This will not work with the 07 CX-7 with factory NAV.
Here is an application chart:

those should work
ok so changing to ipod mode just involves pressing the "CD" button, cool! so if you don't have a CD in the radio, pressing "CD" will just bring you to ipod mode... but if you have a CD in the radio, pressing the "CD" button twice will get you into ipod mode
since the 01-03 protege radio (non-kenwood) has this 16 pin connector also, I'm pretty certain that this ipod adapter WILL work for it also even though the instructions don't say so... little has actually changed in the actual headunits since 2001 except for the changes in the front panel... someone care to try this as I don't have an ipod?
EDIT: just saw the application chart in the first post... it does show it'll work with the protege despite the fact that the instructions don't say so... so that sounds good! looks like I'll be buying an ipod sometime in the future ;)

To the novice mechanic I would say @5.5 out of 10 easier if you normally do a lot of your own work.

What do these usually go for in the US? ($185 CDN seems pretty steep when our dollar is on par with USD)

The pics don't show up anymore. Does this plug directly into the port on the bottom of the iPod, or into the headphone jack?

It plugs into the bottom of the i-Pod. It will recharge it while plugged in too.
