Hi, i might be getting an MP5 here pretty soon, and i had a few questions about swapping the mazdaspeed protege motor into the protege 5. i kno u can buy the hi boost turbo kits for the MP5, but it would probably be cheaper to swap in the MSP motor. i'm assuming that the motor would bolt up to the tranny and i wouldnt need new motor mounts to fit it in, I'm also assuming that i would need to run the MSP ecu? Or could i take the components that made the MSP 2.0 turbo and swap them onto the MP5 2.0 to convert it to turbo? would it even be worth it to do those options?
Thanks

The engines are the same. It is waaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper to drop in the hiboost kit.

Yeah, the Hiboost is a lot cheaper than an entire engine. Also, the mounts would have to be upgraded for one thing because the P5 obviously doesnt come turbo. The Hiboost kit would be a lot easier and cheaper because you have to consider you're going to be wasting a lot of money and man hours to install the same engine which probably wouldnt even put out as much power as the turbo kit.

Unless you live in a place where you have to pass OBDII. Then just use the MSP turbo, manifold, piping, ECU, injectors and intercooler. (the engines are identical) and you can hapily pass emissions.

you dont need to swap the engine at all- just the turbo kit. Probably the cheapest way to go turbo if you get a good deal on the forums.
I myself am planning on putting on the msp turbo/mani/downpipe for my turbo plans. Just need an intercooler.
