I think you may be looking at the wrong side of the harness. The wires are a different color on each side of the 1st O2 sensor wire harness. I tapped into the pink one on the opposite side of the harness that connected directly to the 02 sensor. Do not tap into the O2 sensor wire directly. Tap into the pcm side. The pink one.

There is a pink and blue wire on the ecu harness. This is the wire you should tap for the signal wire to the gauge. If I remember, it's either pin 60 or pin 74, make sure it's the pink/blue wire cuz I have a bad memory.

If you do a search, there is a howto on installing an a/f gauge. It'll be able to help. Just search for it, I'm too lazy to find it :)

If you take the ecu out and look at the wiring harness, there are numbers that mark the pin on the harness. Like shane said, it's standard on the 3rd gens.
Make sure you are looking right at the ecu harness, cuz the wire is only pink/blue for a few inches. I had to completly pull out the ecu in order to be able to see the wire

wouldnt it be MUCH easier to splice at the o2 sensor (those that have the pink wire) hehe

Yup, it's the same thing, the pink/blue turns into the 02 signal wire, but I don't remeber what color it is. It's either white, blue, black, or whatever the other color is :)

I thought it was pin 60 according to the how to. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14164

Are you looking at the ecu wiring harness? Because the wire is there somewhere.

no, easier to hook up a wideband.. (first)
