Welcome! Poke around here a bit. Be sure to search in this forum and others if you have a specific question. Most topics have been addressed and a search can yeild some very good discussion.

Also look around the Wheels, Tires, Suspension forum. Lots of good information on mods including a Stickey for springs and one for Wheels; both are a must-read before making a purchase.

Overall, I thnk this is the best forum for the Protege/Protege5. Lots of dedicated members looking to talk about their vehicle and support the larger community of owners.

Where do you go to school?

Well, I was checking many post before I asked a dumb question, it seems like there is a lot of useful help in this site. A lot of people I know do not know much about These cars so it was very complicated for me to find any useful info. I go to school at SIU in the tampa bay area (clearwater).

when i bought the car, It came with a set of tokico shocks and skunk2 coilovers and it had a 4in drop. so when I was driving, the coils would rub a lot. I raised the car an Inch, and it still rubs, maybe more and the front passenger side shock sounds really bad and its brand new.

The car also had Lexus HID's but the person that owned the car before me did not put em good so the power box the HID's uses fell off thru the engine bay which means i have no headlights at all and I cannot drive at night.(pissed) , I just ordered a new set so hopefully ill have that problem fixed.

Hey, Tampa! My folks just bought a place near Sarasota so I am semi-familiar with the Tampa-St. Pete area. I have family in St. Pete, too.

Good luck with school. Get good grades and learn a lot...what do you want to be when you grow up?

I know, I raised the car already but it is still rough ride. especially when I turn, you hear the coils a lot. Its a nice project for the fact that there are a couple of ricey things i need to change, but Im going to enjoy working on it. (first)

If you hear stuff when turning (or gets worse at that time) it may be UV Joint. Operating for long period with the suspension 4 inches displaced could speed wear on the joint.

This is an excellent reference, too:

yea, I like the fact that is very rare to do work to these and its fun to find parts many others might not have. I owned many hondas from 12 second all motor cars to 11 second turbo cars. but when it came to looks, every honda looks the sameee!!!!!!! I wanted something very different and fun to work on, Im not looking for track times anymore. and this car seems to be very fun to work on when it comes to the exterior.

Well good. Good luck again. Oh, and post some pictures of your ride so we can get an idea of where you are starting from.

Here's a recent pic of my P5. Its stock save for the shifter bushings and RR Racing front motor mount inserts.

thanks, I saw the black wheels on your car. I think they look good, my protege is also yellow and i was thinking for now to paint the stock wheels metallic black and also leave the lip polished. I think it would look good with the drop I have.

I checked them out, i found useful information. I like ur nickname "diehonda: lol...... oh man, I still cant believe I drive a mazda now but its a great car, after all. i cant talk bad about honda's. I had 16 civic's and 2 integras. Well, now to bigger and better things.

One of my closest friend has a 7.2 second civic hatch in the 1/8 with a B18c1 and an 11.2 in the 1/4. So they aren't that bad. I killed mine in a blaze of glory though.

Thanks! It took me a over a month to decide on them, but I am very happy with them & think they did a lot for my car. Everyone was telling me to drop mine after I got the new wheels. I'm afraid to because it's my daily driver & I can't be bothered with worrying about everything I drive over...As it is, I have to with the new rims & low profile tires.

You gotta post pics of yours! I always love to see other yellow ones & what people have done with them.

Many people ask me why I went from a honda to a protege5, I cant deal with cops anymore. i also dont race anymore. I was just looking for a bigger and more comfortable ride. I thought the protege5 was different and it would be fun to add different things.
