As the title says. I got it from Ken today and put it in with a little trouble fanagling my catback system. Here are some videos(only thing important is sound, that why one is black) of the original setup and the with the midpipe.

BEFORE-OBX Header, Magnaflow catback, Stock Midpipe

AFTER-OBX Header, MagnaFlow catback, Midpipe(catless) from protegegarage. There is a slight buzz right after I start it up. That is not the exhaust sound, it is the muffler tip vibrating on the bumper.

Good Stuff. Enjoy Guys and Gals.

Don't be discouraged. That was a very informative sound clip. Before I installed my entire exhaust - header/midpipe/cat-back - I searched for hours trying to get a good sound clip.

Great job!

Dave.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm just really excited. I just want to let people hear it, because for some reason, I hear a hint of 'rice' in there, but I don't care. Thanks.

I have the same setup as the first clip but yours seems to sound different then mine. Maybe its because I have a leak from the header gasket. Your end result sounds great

I have been thinking that. Tomorrow after I adjust the exhaust to get rid of that buzzing on the bumper, I am going to use a different camera and do a start up and rev, and a start up and takeoff, and a drive by. Thanks for the compliment. Good to know ya'll don't think it's ricey. later

camera / (mic) placement is crucial.

One inch away can sound totally different.

I started with MagnaFlow catbacks, then a month later upgraded with an OBX Header, then finished it off with a Catless midpipe from Ken at protegegarage. You can do it in pieces. you don't have to have a header to put a cat back on. or another midpipe. If you get a catback system made for your car it should fit right up to the factory midpipe without modding. I hope that answers your question. Later

okay ty. but does it give it more power with out the catback on it?? j/w

not enough power to be worth the added noise.

No man, I think it sounds damn good! Keep up the awesome mods. That actually made the deciding factor for me to get the pipe so feel happy you helped at least one person

I wouldn't suggest running these cars without a muffler. I had already taken my exhaust apart up to the header, waiting on this midpipe, and when the delivery service got here, I noticed I had to plug the extra o2 bung. OOPs. SO I hooked my factory midpipe back up to the header and was gonna head down the street to the local auto parts store. OMG!!! The sound was awful and DEAFENING!!! I had to be real easy on the gas, so I wouldn't attract any cops. lol.

Thanks man, I am glad that I could be some help for your decision. After driving it for a day or so, there is one down side to it. Besides the interior resonance(which I don't care about) is that you get a little bit more smoke than you want, but mainly right after you start it up.

What did you have to do to make it so the sensor reads that there is a cat? Did you have to buy a simulator or something? I'm not sure how that stuff works...

well as far as with a midpipe you dont have to do anything that I know of. When you put a header on you have to use a non fouler trick to rid the CEL. search for it and you will find a how to.

you can either use the two spark plug nonfouler trick or wire in a MIL eliminator

Is that the MAM catless midpipe?

If so we have the same setup, but I have the RB Catback. Mine is not as snappy as that though...a little more bassy I guess. One think I noticed ever since I added the midpipe is a slight buzzing sound at arount 2500 RMS during deceleration. I can't quite figure it out. Thought it was the heat shield at first, but turned out it wasn't. Oh well...the extra pull is worth it.

Sounds mean though, nice work!!

so does the midpipe do anything at all, from what ive read it justs adds that raspy sound

it eliminates the stock section - one cat on proteges and protege5s, two cats on MSPs - with a pipe much larger in diameter and freer flowing. lets say you have a header and catback. your stock midpipe would remain and would bottleneck some of the gains you'd otherwise get. on turbo cars, a freer flowing exhaust quickens turbo spool and lessens back pressure to put out that much extra power faster

no we make our own midpipe. the price is higher than your average MAM pipe due to thicker steel, thicker stainless flanges, vibrant stainless flex joints and vibrant metal core cat guaranteed to pass emissions (if ordered with a cat). there is a lifetime warranty against rust through on all our pipes

ProtegeGarage catless midpipe. Yeah, I get the buzzing a little bit too. Kinda sounds like a leaf or a piece of plastic at the tip on the muffler. But as you said it is worth it.

Yeah, it does something. It adds a little hp if mixed with other mods. my acceleration is alot better, at least when my maf is not acting up. raspy? Nah, only if you have a fully automatic. with a manual or a sport auto, when you change the gears it just sounds sick man, really sick. The sound of raw power. I would rather buy a midpipe than a decal to add horsepower. Even though I thought I heard of a decal that adds 20 hp. Wow. If that were true, you wouldnt be able to tell what color my car was. lol. Take care guys and gals.

That sounds oh so familiar. I have ceramic coated Ractive Header with a MAM mid pipe and a Magnaflow cat back. I love the sound of it. When I first got it I found myself in the outside lanes near brick walls with the window down listing ing to my exhaust.

Before the Magnaflow I had the header & midpipe with a MazdaSpeed axle back. Holy cow I sounded like a honduh with a coffee can farting exhaust.

Glad to see you are happy with it.
