View Full Version : MSP shift knob on p5
Hey all, got the wife a msp shift knob (the non sparco one that says mazdaspeed on it) and it won't fit. I remember researching and being told it would fit. I even removed the plastic collar that holds the shift boot up, and still no dice, anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
thanks!
nevermind, i obviously am an idiot:) guess itdoesn't fit without major modification...

The P5 and sedan shifters have that big metal piece that blocks the MSP shift knob from going down all the way. If you want to use the MSP knob you have to get a MSP shifter or something aftermarket. I just changed from a Kartboy SS/bushings and MSP shift knob to a MSP shifter and shift knob and like the new setup, very smooth and comfortable shifts. The Kartboy bushings help a lot.

i'm lost here
I thought the original 03 sparco knobs would not fit other shifters,
but that the 03.5 knobs used traditional threading to fit most manual shifters?

MP3 shift knobs have different threading, but the MSP ones (03 and 03.5) will work on most Mazdas.
just not p5's apparently:(
Well i'll be putting this one up for sale when i can get home and take pics. Anyone know what the diameter of the p5 shifter thread is? 8,10,12mm?
