I was just wondering if these rims would fit our car, b/c if they do, then i would most likely buy them... Or should I? I do have a budget..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=160035025924&ih=006&
Model: ADR Sokudo 10
Color: Gold
Size: 17" x 7" (5 Lug)
Offset: 40mm
Bolt Pattern: 5x100 or 5x114.3
Fit: 12mm x 1.5 mm thread size vehicle
I don't know everything about my car, that's why I'm asking you guys first, if you guys know of any other "fair priced" rims that would fit our car, and are gold with a polished lip, please don't hesitate to inform me. I don't really like the Drag brand so much because the lip is too wide. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!!

offset is too low. those rims come in a +48. get those.

I'm not too "hard core" on knowing things about cars.. This is a dumb question but an offset is??? I know the bolt pattern on our cars is 5x114.5, LOL, but other than that that's why i'm consulting you guys first b 4 doing anything. I need to know from your guys' expert opinion on these things. So what do I need to know about the MP5 b 4 buying certain rims?

it should fit fine. I used to have +40 offset rims, before my current set, and I didn't rub. They were 17x7 also, and I was on H&R's

So the majority of you guys are saying that these rims would be ok with my car for sure. Is this 100% positive that nothing would go wrong with my car right? b/c if anything, I'd much rather stay on the safe side of things. I do believe that rims are a long term investment on a car, I just don't wanna make the "wrong" long term investment on my car to the point where i would regret it one day. So hopefully these rim dimensions would work just right..?

Check out this thread http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9129
According to this you need at least a +42 offset with a 17x7 rim to avoid rubbing (sedan has a little more clearance in the back). Don't forget to add tuner lugs and hubcentric rings into your budget. Stock lugs wont fit on most (if not all) aftermarket wheels and the rings are adapters that allow the hub of the wheel to fit the hub of the car. That is the way it was explained to me.

"at least a +42 offset with a 17x7 rim to avoid rubbing" do you mean no MORE than +42, or no LESS than +42? Oh, and one more thing... WTF is an offset????? Like I sed, i dont know everything about dimensions or wheel sizes.. Sorry, i guess im really stupid on these things....
there was a good diagram explaining it. let me see if i can find it

IIRC the higher the offset the more the tire would tuck into the wheel well. so say you have too low of an offset your tire would hit the fender, or just rub it. if its too high i'd guess it would hit the struts.

offset basically determines how far your wheel sticks out. a deep dish wheel is a low offset wheel. so a +40 wheel would stick out further than a +48 meaning you'd more likely rub on the fender with the lower offset wheel. while you can rub the strut/inner fender lining if you go too high.

So what would be "perfect" offset for our cars? Or at least what is the range it can handle??

+40 through +55 depending on wheel width. with a higher offset (+45) you should be able to fit 215/40-17 tires without rubbing. with the +40 you're most likely stuck with 205's without fender rolling.

(sigh)... so i would have to say no to these rims..? or........ where can i find these rims for about the same price and get just the right measurement offset?

i'm not saying no. i'm just making sure you know as much as possible before you buy them and run into rubbing down the road. some people have rubbed on +42, some have been good at +40. it just all depends on wheel manufacturer, tire brand, suspension setup...

Perfect offset for the P5 would be +48
my first set of rims were a +45, worked really well only rubbed once in awhile -- when i got new ones, +48, Never rubbed even being lowered and passangers in the back --
So what would be "perfect" offset for our cars? Or at least what is the range it can handle??
