Ok so I have this sound coming from my rear.. does NOT happen on all bumps only some, now I just got my bushings replaced and the sound is still there, I looked at my end links they are fine.
I don't know what the clunk sounds like but if i were to describe this sound, it's metal on metal but sounds like someone is tapping my trunk floor pan on the right (maybe) with a screw driver.
it isn't a BANG or SLAM.. it is more like TINK TINK if i were to describe it using cartoon form lol.
My shocks are all fine, i know the sound of a blown shock, the only thing i can think of is something on the control arms.. anybody got anythin?
any help is great, i'm gonna actually check my trunk maybe the jack or tire iron is flopping around but i've never been in there.

exhaust maybe? well you said it only happens when you hit bumps so probably not, but it's worth checking. I know my exhaust sits really high so the part that bends up over the rear subframe rubs the car sometimes.

if that doesnt fix it, if you have warranty take it to service. i got my bushings replaced not too long ago and had a similar sound coming from the rear, they adjusted a bunch of shit in the back, and now the sound is gone.
P.S. Brian... you have that sig pic in high res? ;)

ahhhh ha! i think i found the problem (maybe). The spare tire is loose and is flopping around like an old pair of boobs.. we'll see if that solves it, if it doesn't i will do the stuff you guys listed above thanks.

well.. checked everything in the trunk, tightened everything and it's still there so i booked another appointment.. maybe they should DRIVE the car before fixing shit rather then assuming it is another part.

bump .. it goes into the dealership today, i was under it and saw nothing.. end links look fine (holy shit they are skinny) bushings "look" new, regreased them i think it's something in the pass rear shock.
i am not paying a dime since i paid a 100 deductable to get 2 crappy bushings put back in

no man i intended on going but i am close friends with a performance shop who do quite a few track cars and are awesome guys in general so i cancelled my appointment because i hate the dealership and i said to myself if i find out what it is i will do it myself i am quite experienced enough.
Wellllll they are moving so I havent had a chance to get anyone to listen to it but here is my updates:
-removed all rear plastic panelling, spare tire, jack and anything in the rear of the vehicle.
-had it on a hoist doing undercoating saw NOTHING that would explain this, endlinks look O.K nothing extensively worn at all
-sound seems worse, sounds like metal on metal not a squeek but almost sounds like the bad balljoint sound.
- i have been under the car, had my dad jump on it, but this phenomenon of a sound is still there!
found a leak at the turbo i think i am going to the dealership this week to rip their fucking heads off..
WHO DOES A 96,000KM service and does not notice oil on the fucking turbo..
GOD.. anyways if i find it i will post in here for sure for future reference.

as of right now i turn my music up.. thought it was the exhaust.. i was under the car as i stated and inspected for any rubbing or marks where anything could be hitting and nothing.. all my suspension components are fine, no leaky shock.. end-links everything looks fine.. it has to be something hitting somewhere but for the life of me i cannot find it..im not lowered or anything... it is so irritating

Oh yeah, when the msp 1st came out everyone noticed the rear amprack would rattle and bump the underneath of the trunk. You may want to give that a shot....hope that's it for your sake, but I still cannot find the squeek in my car.

alright thanks alot, i gave the amp rack a wiggle a couple times, doesn't seem loose.. if i turn the radio off.. drive.. it sounds like the exhaust hitting the suspension but all my hangers are fine.. and everything is stock..
i really gotta get someone to ride in the trunk as strange as that sounds lol

you sure there isn't a weld broken on the muffler? I'm assuming you would have noticed that if you were down there, but you never know. I know the 2003.5 (oval tip) muffler does break sometimes.
