EDIT 10/20 : SOLD!

Up for sale is a beautiful Garrett gt28r. I only purchased this turbo less than three weeks ago, and I only received it yesterday. The reason I'm selling is I've decided to pick up a gt28rs. I'm sure I prob. don't need to mention this, but the turbo is dual ball bearing and water cooled. Everything with this unit seems to be flawless. Absolutely no shaft play. It's a 60 a/r. The internal wastegate flapper has been welded shut, and the actuator was not included when I purchased it, so it's for external wastegate applications only as of now. You could however purchase an actuator and cut the weld very easily if you wanted to use the internal flapper. As the turbo sits, the previous, previous owner (guy I bought it from didn't use it either lol) was using it mounted downwards, much like how the msp stock turbo is mounted. The reason I mention this is because the turbo also came with a down pipe. You'll see from the pics that this down pipe looks to have been cut, but there is still a nice run of pipe. I highly doubt anyone could prob. make use of this down pipe, but it will be included if the buyer so chooses. If not I'll keep it around as a spare part.

Asking 450 shipped to the 48 obo* PM's and offers will be responded to in a first come, first serve basis. Please feel free to post any questions here, or PM me of course. Thanks!

;)

Well, I'm no turbo expert by any means, so someone please correct me at any time if I post something that's wrong. Ok, from garrett's site :

gt28r:
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT28/GT2860R_707160_5.htm

gt28rs:

I know the gt28r ranges anywhere from 7-9 new, and the gt28rs retails for over a grand brand new. Hope that helps.

Also, I should mention that on the compressor housing, the outlet has a 3 bolt adapter on it (as shown in pics), but the inlet will most probably need an adapter as shown here:

what would it take to use this on the msp, alterations needed to make it bolt on and function?

I believe you would need to purchase the actuator, cut the weld on the flapper, and it will require clocking of the compressor housing to utilize the stock msp piping since the compressor outlet points upwards in the msp, and as it sits now it's pointing downwards. Besides that, I think people that drop the gt28rs in have a slight fitment issue with the wastegate rod I think, so the same might apply here. It can be done I'm sure, but what it will entail over what I've stated I'm not sure. I'll try some searching for ya...

Bump for you and a good price man... You should have gone with a GT30R LOL!

lasermp5
09-21-2006, 11:47 PM
Thanks. 30R is a little above ourselves isn't it lol? I've actually thought that the gt28r might be better suited for my needs now, but I just love the gt28rs! Besides, "disco potato" is a friggin awesome nick-name. I was gonna get "DSCOTATR" as my custom plate until I learned FL gets on 7 characters rather than 8 :( Anyways, hope you get your stuff sold fast too. I'll save that special bump for you...

There's no such thing as overkill LOL! Ya the Disco Potato is a nice turbo man... Are you gonna gate it internally or let TiAL look after it for you? ;)

nah. Would look too weird. The first gen ss manifold/dp I have is just too nice to block off. I love the sound of an external wastegate too.

Are you dumping it out, or into the dp? Mine is dumped into the dp and it still sounds pretty sweet...

With the 1st gen mam ss down pipe it's routed right in. I know it won't be as loud, but it'll still sound bad ass!

Just fyi too: I'm also willing to take trades +/- cash for a lot of diff stuff. I spent about 9 minutes compiling a list, but I hit "back" on my browser by mistake and lost it all lol. Biggest things were shit like ems (microtech, mpi, haltech), ARW oil pain and/or motor mounts, cf hood, Autoexe wing, wbo2 guage, greddy ebc, tial 38mm wg, LSD!, brake pads, flywheel, clutch, intake mani, cams, 3" 4 point harness like sparco/takata, coilovers, gt-spec parts, fuel pump, injectors, etc...

Basically, if you got something cool what's the hurt in asking? Thanks.

Well, what I need most of all right now is the money. But, if the turbo doesn't "sell" by October 2nd, at that time I will begin to seriously entertain the trade offers. I am interested in the MPI though. If we get a little farther into this week and the turbo hasn't sold, feel free to PM me full details on the said MPI tuner. Thanks!

Quick update. Right now I'm really just down to trying to decide which of two offers I want to take. They both equate out to approx. $500, it's just one involves a trade+cash, and the other is a straight local cash transaction. Anyone that can beat ~500 will get my attention, but I'll prob. be making a decision early-mid next week since this isn't really a bidding thing or w/e and I've been having pretty regular negotiation with a member on the board and don't intend to drag anyone along. That's all for now. Thanks!
