Okay, need ideas for the new ride

Since it looks like the RX-7 will be leaving this weekend, I've decided to look for my new toy..... But I'm not sure what I want.... Now don't go making suggestions of 20 thousand dollars cars and stuff.... I figure I've got about 5K to play with.... Ideas? suggestions? If you know of anything cool for sale locally, I'm pretty much open to anything in my price range.... Right now, I'm really leaning towards another CRX now that people are moving away from older Hondas....

early 90's civic, then build it up. Well, the CRX used to fall under the civic name back in the day. I had an 86. I loved the adjustible front end from the factory, and I dropped it an inch for the nice rake. Put 70K in a year or so, never had any big problems.

So far, I've owned 4 CRXs.... two first gen, two second gen... I only got out of them because of the huge theft problem in the area at the time.... Now that everybody is moving onto the newer Hondas, and the Blegh, 240sx... I'm interested again...

Well I had a 97 z28, That says it's an RS modle (V6) yet the also say it's a 325hp ls1. It don't ad up. And if I recall only the SS came with 325hp, the others were 310.

I know you said the market is kind of dry for miatas right now, but if I were looking to get into a car in that price range I'd seriously look into locating one. they have some serious potential. You can find high mileage early to mid 90's for around 3 grand. I'd rebuild the motor and overhaul the trans, and spend the remaining cash on engine, tranny, and susp. mods.

with some decent mods, I don't think you could ask for a roadster that is that much fun to drive within that price range.

I love the things, I checked autotrader this morning after i posted there and there are a few not terribly far from where we live. The Mitsubishi starion is the same car, only under the mitsubishi name. Im not sure why i hadn't thought of this earlier but what about a foxbody mustang? They can be had for less than the price you have listed.

My nephew is sellin his '96 civic coupe with a b18c5 drivetrian for $2500. the passenger rear suspension is fuber with rust and damamge but the chassis seems ok. I was gonnna get it for a track beater but i dont have anymore money besides the $2500 to spend on gettin it "track worthy" (replacin all the rusty suspension arms and bolts).

There's your 5k right there. Find a junk yard and source some rear disks, control arms, and shocks frrom a 'teg and you'll be good to go.

Last time i checked the B18c5 engine was about $4000.00 alone but that was a couple af years ago.

can always get a celica alltrac... 3sgte engine, turbo, 200hp straight from the factory(2nd gen alltrac/5th gen body style) or 180-190hp(1st gen alltrac/4th gen body style).... alltrac.net i think is the site they are mainly on...

5th gen body go for around 5-6K, and im sure you can find the 4th gen bodies for even cheaper 3-4K... good engines, good cars... i love them... they do tend to have leaks from power steering and one other place... forgot where...

or if you wanna spend a lot of money, you an import a 3rd gen alltrac/6th gen body... only 13K or something near that... between 220 and 260 hp and the motors boost pretty well

but the 5th gen is the alltrac that competitors on the wrc feared before toyota got t3h boot

Well, after TONS of people telling me that I'm crazy for selling it, and driving it for nonstop for the past week(WOOT!), I told the guy the car is off the market... It's like an addiction... I can stop anytime I want... sure I can..... GAARRRGGHHH!!!! lol

Just ordered new fenders, new front and rear bumper covers, a new airdam, and sideskirts. I also fully lined the passenger compartment in Dynamat... Now to find some carpet for the back, and put a nice stereo back in....
