There are a couple painting methods you can use, but eventually you will notice chips and stuff in it. Make sure you want to do this before you do it because to do it right you need to sand down the finnish on the rims, apply a primer, put on multiple coats of paint and multiple clear coat coats. It can be done, Shadow102 has painted his a dark grey and I have seen several other members that have painted theirs. I have painted aftermarket rims for another member and they turned out nice enough, but they were ugly rims to begin with, when I get home I'll post up some progressive pics for you. If I was to do my own rims I would powdercoat them. You can find a shop to do it ot do it yourself. Harbor Freight sells a powder coater, its a gun that you give an electric charge to the material you want covered then apply powder, it sticks to the charge and then you bake it in the oven. It smells bad while baking and it takes practice, so try it on small things first if you go that route.
I've got an old set of RH's that are suffed and the like, planning on sanding down, priming, maybe even bondo'ing a gouge or two (minor), then sand and paint with auto touchup paint. Maybe head for a bodyshop, don't know. They're gonna be autox wheels if I ever get off my doopa and do it, so far the car hasn't been (ahem) used to its full potential (end ahem) at all.
