I've posted on this before, but never got an answer that seemed to work..just thought I'd post it again.
Every once in a while my car likes to stall when starting. It only does it when the engine is warm, but not hot. For example if I go to the store or something far enough for the engine to warm up fully, go in, come back out 10 minutes later and start it up. The engine will start instanly and then just die like I turned the ignition off. Its not a harsh stall out or anything, its very smooth. I've also noticed that the car seems to be running very well right before this happens. I dont know if something is sticking open somewhere thats causing better performance or what....
Heres what I have tried:
EGR cleaning (a couple times, and my idle is perfectly smooth since doing it the first time)
replaced the PCV
sprayed carbon cleaner on the vac lines looking for a leak
reset the ecu
spark plugs
its a very intermittant problem, so i could work on it for a while and it starts up fine and everything appears good, but then the next day it will do it again...
any other ideas?

i've run fuel injector cleaners through the system, and even ran seafoam through the tank, and that makes no difference.
I have had the thought about replacing the fuel filter, just not quite sure how to do it..

I have had the same thing since my Hiboost install and only once the car has reached operating temp on hot hot days with the A/C on. A/C off it is fine (aftermarket a/c fan is a huge draw on the electrical system). Pretty sure mine is due to heatsoak from the intercooler and piping. Once I get the car going it's fine but still will drop off and stall on an occasion sitting in traffic. I have just quit trying to figure it out.

bump
doesnt really look like the filter is servicable...
also with the injectors, i have ran injector cleaner through the system in the past, without much change...

I'd check the filter...your up to the mileage that it might need to be changed

i just had a thought. why would a fuel filter or injectors only give problems when the engine is warm? wouldnt that be more of an all the time thing??

i have the same problem after my auto to manual swap/engine replacement. Start the car, it starts and the revs go up, then the as the revs go down after the initial start up it just dies. Start the car again and its fine.

heres what i did today:
oil/filter change
replaced spark plugs with the supposed oem's NGK BKR5E-11
cleaned the IAC (bought the T25 Torx thingy)
after i did that i fired her up, and it promptly stalled...same exact thing as before. so i tried again, same result. i say to myself WTF??? pop the hood, and i noticed i didnt plug the IAC back in. plugged it in, started right up.
so, i'm hoping that a dirty IAC was my problem. i havent driven it a ton yet to find out for sure, but i'm remaining hopeful...

Mazda had a big problem with the EGR valve getting stuck open after warming up...in fact on certain models it was a recall. Try calling the dealer and asking about the recall. Also I asked my teacher who is a certified mazda master technician about that same prob on my own car and that is what he told me.

thanks for the tip ezekiel, but i have actually gone that route already...at least as far as cleaning. i hate my dealer, so i refuse to go to them unless absolutely necessary

I've heard about cleaning the EGR but what and where is the IAC?

IAC = Idle Air Controller
its located on top of the throttle body (where your intake goes)
its a black cylinder thats held in place by 2 t25 torx (star shaped) bolts
