To each his/her own.

It just doesn't catch my eye. There are very few wagons around here. We had ONE on the lot and it just sat there. Finally we got a dealer trade and it left the lot, but no one even took interest in it. If anything the customers were confused with a "what the hell?" look on their face.

I'd say the wheels are a pretty obvious thing that they came off the current WRX. If this is gonna be 330 hp thats gonna really be a screamer! It's still way to early to tell what the body is gonna look like, but from what little i can tell, it seems to be a step in the right direction. I saw a new STi the other day and wasn't impressed at all with the front end. I would still take a 2002 any day of the week. I do like the LED taillights, hopefully the sedan gets those as well. Give it 3 or 4 months and we'll see a less covered version and we can make our remarks on looks.

that car is ugly. why would anyone in their right mind buy a car with paper all over it. it looks like it got tyvek home wrapped. that's just stupid. maybe if it had normal paint, then it would look *alright* but even then I don't know. It's gotta make wind noise at highway speeds almost unbearable too. also, i just don't understand the weird windshield and rear glass banners that they applied. just makes no sense.

Look at the second picture, you can see the rear differential. Also, different muffler layout: current wrx exhaust exit on left side of car, this has a "sideways" muffler with right side exit.
Also, the control arms looks different, they look almost like the chevy malibu and saabs with the gm platform. Although, I highly doubt it is on any gm platform since gm sold it's shares of subaru.

'02/03 Bugeye owns all (in aesthetics). I've been driving my brother-in-law's '03 for the last few days and it's sooo much fun. We just drove up to Greensboro to buy his mom a Baja yesterday.

The next generation of mazda 6 is supposed to be larger than the current one. And in my opinion that prototype isn't any bigger. The hood scoop looks like a scooby to me. That car is way too heavily disguised to tell much. The new grill looks kinda nissan-ish to me.

weight that allows you to fit your family in a fast car

nate0123

you can fit a family in a sedan easier than a short 5-door... the tall, narrow trunk is perhaps less practical than a full size one with a lid

dmitrik4
09-17-2006, 11:00 PM
and either way, we're not talking about Lotuses here. it's a little odd when the "hooray for sedans" crowd is cracking on the "added weight" of a hatch design.

after all, everyone knows that if you want REAL performance, you go with a 4-door sedan b/c a 5-door is soooo incredibly overweight in comparison...right?

DE31
09-17-2006, 11:08 PM
"added weight" in the protege and protege5, ex vs p5 there is an 80 lbs difference, 2634 vs 2716, the msp is 2843. but i didnt compare that since im sure the turbo and whatnot adds a bit more weight.

There is also the arguement, some use, of how the weight distribution is more balanced with a hatch front vs rear.

O and can you fit a 6foot table in a sedan :)

dmitrik4
09-18-2006, 09:26 PM
I guess those are great ways to rationalize driving a wagon

not really; the usual rationale behind choosing a 5-door hatch over a sedan is the added versatility. what it really does is point out that you don't really give up any meaningful performance by doing so.

KIJIMA
09-24-2006, 04:00 AM
Looks like a Mazda to me, the grille is very Mazda. I still have no idea why any of you are making comments on if the car looks good or not. How can you tell?

I will disown subaru if they make the STi and WRX a hatch!! Why would anyone want a fast hatch?? Actually, why do people insist on putting there family into a fast car?? Do you love your family?? The car is not made for a family car, you want a family car with balls go buy a Magnum. I think Subaru is just looking at sales with this and not sticking to heritage and because of this the Evo will own and Sti competition will be MS3! Im a HUGE fan of STi's but if they do this than EVO PWN'S!! It kinda like making a hatch Corvette and adding two more seats just because stupid people want to drive fast cars with there family in it!! Geez, whats happening to the world!!
