I had a check engine light come on when I was just seeing how the car was running because I haven't drove it in a while. When I was going thru 2nd and 3rd the car was jittery and hesitating. I ran the codes and I got P0101 which says on the code reader System bank 1 to lean and in the manual for the car that the MAF circuit range/ performance problem. I was just wandering if anyone else on the forums has had this problem and what you did to fix it because now the car after 5,500 rpms and it sucks but I can deal with it until I get it fixed. If anyone could help me out with this issue that would be great.
Thanks,
Erik

P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem
Thats what I pulled for the code you listed. However
P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean (Bank 1)
Thats what you are complaining about....
I found a whole list of OBDII codes for our car here:
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123641148&highlight=p0101
The only thing I found was someone who said to clean the MAF needle with some electronic cleaner and reset the ECU. Im not sure if this will help. It could have been caused by re-oiling an intake filter and the oil getting on the MAF needle. Another thing that was said about the code you recieved is it could be that the wiring to the MAF with a CAI is pulled too tight and causes this code as well. Hope that helps a little!

(BTW having the thread moved to engine & performance might help (peep) )_

Well he did run his MAF backwards for a week or so... could that have possibly damaged the MAF?

Maybe... If nothing else it def. wouldnt read right while backwards... its like a SMALL angled blade thats cut back in the same direction as the air is moving... if it were backwards it wouldnt "slice" through the air. The only way to really know is to test the MAF on another car and see if you produce the same results...

LOL, I just finished fixing the same issue. I have had DTC PO103, p0101, and one other DTC I can't remember. Theres a lot of things that can cause this problem. If you have a warranty, I would led the dealer deal with it. If you don't, I would get a multimeter out and start checking things out. The MAF should be showing 12V-.7/.9-0V on the A/B/C points of harness that runs to the sensor IIRC. The shop manual shows tells what it should read @ idle. My problem was that the 0V or 'c' point on the harness had .4 or so volts on it that I determined by doing a voltage drop test...(the manual might call that the 'a' point on the plug, I can't remeber how they labeled it). My problem wasn't caused by a faulty MAF, although I have had several codes that indicated that as being the most likely candidate.
I would check the maf circuit, then the main relay circuit, then the TT's wiring and make damn sure they are all checking out.
