im thinking about upgrading the rods to the h-beam mam rods...

i just don't want to buyt he pistons yet...maybe later down the road..

how much boost should i be able to run with the stock pistons and mam rods??

prolly a 9.1:1 compression ratio

I would buy the rods and buy the rings when you can afford them....I would wait until you have all the pieces to build the motor once....it's too much of a pain in the ass to build a motor multiple times because you could only afford a partially built motor the first time around....keep the boost around 8 or 9 on the stock internals while saving, then do it all at one time

Hi-Boost makes some good power on the stock pistons machined to accept aftermarket rods. Check into that?

The stock pistons will not work with the H beam rods. They would have to be machine to accept a floating wrist pin.

by the time you do what needs to be done to make the rods work, you might as well of just bought new pistons

well, i ask because theres a guy selling the rods...but i don't want to spend 300 on rods and still have to wait to save 600 dollars for pistons....i'd rather do some other mods and wait till the engine blows, then do a rebuilt...

well while this thread is here.... whats the best rod/piston combo to buy? I see a whole bunch of different sets on street unit and protege garage... but I not sure of the differences etc..

I got what you need. Its a great deal. MAM rods, CP pistons, all needed gaskets and new OE rod bearings........

Remachining the stock pistons is just a few bucks less than a set of forged pistons, its not worth trying to reuse them.

i ran 15 psi for 2 years on a fully stock motor :)
then alot higher for 3 months. imo 12-15 psi on a stock motor tuned right should i say again "should" be good!!!

we believe our piston and rod combo is the best money can buy for this engine. we have the expertise and recommendations of several engine builders - one of whom has built several FSDEs - to back that claim.

I like the thought of 12-15psi on stock motor..... but there is WAY toooo many people who have popped motors running that way for me to even think about doing it. I will survive with the 7 psi mine runs stock until when/if i decide to build the motor.

lol, defiently a cheaper choice. 15 is fun but then u will want more so u push it a little more, then 20 is fun so u go to 22 for a few months. bumping it to 28 while racing! then u join the zoom, zoom boom club. so not upping it at all is the smartest ;)

btw i will be running the protegegarage.com set-up when it is all said and done-great customer service and products, what else can u ask for!!

i got pauter rods, they say it's something better than the h rods, they say it's a crossover, if that makes any sense. i got arias pistons with that form speed ciricuit on here, guy called dino. he gave quick follow up and excellent service. hope that helps.
