Is anyone running just the GT28R, not the RS. Anyone have fitment issues?
Im at a loss on which turbo to get right now:
T25, with possible MPINick upgrade
GT28R
GT28RS
Right now, all I have is the MSP ECU and no other EMS. I wanted to get the LT8, but it's been discontinued. I want something that I can hook up a laptop to and make adjustments, not send it off.
I don't plan on running anything more than 10psi because I'm using stock internals. I do plan on going forged, but not now.
I don't want something that spools up super fast because I need traction in first gear for autocross starts. That's why i was originally looking at the GT28R.
This is the setup I'll be putting on the P5:
INJEN CAI - Turbohoses hard pipes - Turbohoses FMIC - Single runner intake manifold - NSN thermal Spacers - MSP exhaust manifold (Extrude honed) - ???GT28R??? - MSP S-pipe (Extrude honed) - Vibrant 3" Exhaust - MSP ECU for now
Thanx for the help.

Running Nick's upgrade with stock MSP ecu.
Muy sucko. Starts to spool up then no power really. (Not turbo's fault) It's the ECU dumping too much fuel and I guess because I have quite a few mods the ECU is wondering WTF.
Also i think the clutch is slipping sometimes.
I can't run through like 1,000 rpm's or less without all the power going away and I'm going nowhere.
So new turbo and stock ECU.... don't do it. I can't wait till I can get on a dyno with a Haltech and an ACT clutch.

i get plenty of spool w/my stocker. so if you get the mpinick upgrade it should be more than adequate. altho youll have to feather the throttle coming out of certain turns because youll spin a tire easily. i put down more than the lsd can handle sometimes.

I've been talking to Ken at Protegegarage and he says that the MSP ECU should be fine for any of the turbos.

Since you still have the stock bottem end, and no EMS, just stick with the t25. The stocker is powerful enough to blow your engine anyway. With the mods you listed, you will not be dissapointed with the peformance increase over your car now.
Once you go forged and get an ems, then go with a larger turbo.

i agree... BUT one thing not alot of people keep in there head at all times is EMS IS a way to gain good amounts of lost power and drivability!

You want the microtech LT10

i think i'm gonna go with the GT25 and an EMS. I just talked to Cullen and he's saying there's some fabrication to do if i want to put the GT28R or RS in.
Can anyone verify or deny that??

that's what cullen was saying. so, looks like i'll go with the stock GT25. Anyone know if it has a 54 or 60mm compressor wheel?

stock msp turbo can throw more than you can take. pick one up cheap and with the money you would have spent on a bigger turbo start saving for a good lsd cause if you think your gonna win autoX with a 1WD wagon your in for a surprise. I would not waste the cash on a stock msp ecu, its pointless. Get a unichip, stock msp manifold, pipes,IC and a good exhaust. You will be boosting 14psi safely on the stock motor and putting down 200WHP for teh cheap. Then when the rest of your car is up to par grab an IC abd retune the unichip.

youd be well over 200 hp with all that at 14 psi. i mean rsx type-s's are like 200 whp right?? i run 10 psi and i can handle any stock/slightly modded type-s.

As far as piping I'll have: INJEN intake - turbohoses hard pipes - turbohoses SMIC - single runner intake manifold - MSP exhaust manifold - GT25R - MSP s-pipe - Vibrant 3" exhaust
I'll use the MSP ECU just to get everything running, then switch over to the EMS to get it tuned out.
i have a link in my sig to my "turbo project" that'll show you my list of goodies.

That is correct. Only the stock turbo will drop right in.

totally incorrect. Type-S is 200 flywheel. They are heavier and have only 1WD, no LSD. Thats why you beat him. Untuned your arent putting down 200WHP on 10psi, maybe 200 flywheel. Tuned with an afc or unichip, ya 200WHP. The 14psi spike from unichip comes in the low rpm and boosts low end torque making it ideal for autoX, by 5500rpm you are back down to 10psi.

THIS (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114003)is how I got the GT28RS to fit on mine, but it's not the only way.
it is realy easy, and something most anyone can do.
