View Full Version : Im buying a used unichip...

im gettting a used unichip... anyway... i heard some units similar to this like "hypertech" units will burn the vin number into the memeory and will only allow the same vehicle to run the equip. does anyone know if this is the same for the unichip... cuz i dont want to get it if im gonna get f'ked... which is not what i think is oging to happen just trying to do some homework.. let me know if youhave first hand knowledge.. THANKS!

Not at all, the Unichip has nothing like that. What i would do if i were u is, send it back to Unichip to get looked over. Make sure all switches are running properly and maybe get re-programmed.

you think i need to do all that? im geting it form someone on here and they had it on an msp... are you sying make sure the stuff isnt set so that im driving a time bomb? just curious... thanks!

Im sure you can plug it up and run it, may work just fine. But theres been issues with them and there switches being mixed up and backwards. Not all units had these problems, but most of the newer ones from the past year. All im saying is, having Unichip taking a quick look at it and making sure its fine will prolly make u fell better. Wouldnt you wanna know its fine? could have problems or been tampered with......

Im sending mine back this weekend, im having fuel cut issues with it.....turnaround time should be fairly quick.

Very true.
Even if nothing is wrong with it, the previous owner could have had new maps loaded which were tuned for his mods. If you don't have those mods, it might cause some problems.
